Customers say: True professional

"Excellent service. I called late in the afternoon yesterday and they were here this morning. They fixed the sink, installed a new sump pump and pipes and added supports that I had not had before. They discovered an issue with the downstairs bathroom and fixed that also. They were competent, neat, and friendly. Would definitely recommend them."

"Kitchen drain had been gurgling for months. That didn’t get my attention but when it stopped draining…well time to act. Ivan listened to my problem, took a look and gave me my options. As requested he tried to snake the drain but couldn’t get the snake to advance. Got a smaller snake with the same issue. The snake came back with rust and sludge. Well kitchen sinks are rather important so i gave the OK to replace the stack. Note that I live in a century home with 100 yo cast iron stacks. I nearly fainted when he showed me how the rust and sludge had narrowed the stack’s diameter to the size of my pinky. Through all of this Ivan answered all of my questions, kept me informed and gave me time to think which I very much appreciated. Would I tell my friends and neighbors to use Mr. Rooter? I would enthusiastically! Am I thrilled with my new stack and quick draining sink? Oh yes I am 😄"

Small jobs welcome

"Tony and his assistant changed out the pipes running from our kitchen sink to the main outflow pipe in the basement, a run of about 35 feet. It was a dirty job, but they were conscientious about getting it done quickly, professionally, and without getting that horrible sewage sludge on things. All new pipes, with better angles and an additional clean out access point for future snaking when necessary. I'll call him again for other jobs."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

The plumbing industry has standardized the sizes for bathtub drains. They are 1 1/2 inches wide to fit all standard bathtubs from 14 to 26 inches deep. The standard sizing is to ensure that the drain fits into the P trap, a special part of your piping that prevents sewer water from bubbling up into your home (yuck).

If your toilet won’t stop running, you might have a bad fill valve. This may be the case if the valve has calcium or debris buildup, is cracked, or shows visible signs of wear and tear. A bad fill valve may also be the culprit if you’ve already checked the flapper and chain and adjusted the fill height to no avail.

Yes, hydro jetting can potentially damage pipes, particularly if they are old or weakened. The high-pressure water can be too abrasive for fragile pipes, potentially causing cracks or breaks. For this reason, it is highly recommended to have a professional evaluate the condition of your pipes before the procedure. However, for newer pipes made from materials like PVC, which is common for sewer lines, hydro jetting is generally considered safe.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers a pool leak depends on your specific policy, so it's essential to check your policy documents before taking on any repairs. Typically, leaks caused by a covered event, such as a fallen tree branch or a fire, may be covered. However, leaks resulting from general wear and tear or poor maintenance are usually not. It is also a good practice to review your homeowners insurance policy before installing a pool to fully understand your personal liability and coverage.

Minor fixes, like leak repairs, are manageable DIY projects; however, major replacements usually require professional services to ensure safety.
