"From the start, Be Blessed Remodeling (Rob) was the only contractor that quoted our project who left us feeling hopeful and excited for our project to begin. We wanted to change the floor plan of our bathrooms to allow for more space in the master. While other contractors wanted to talk us out of this change, Rob improved on our idea, giving us two incredibly updated and beautiful bathrooms we now love. Both bathrooms feel spacious and Rob did it in just about four weeks. Rob was a delight to work with. His communications skills far exceeded our expectations and those of any other contractor we’ve worked with in the past. He was happy to talk us through any decisions we had yet to make and explained everything in full detail. We were able to trust him and his workers in our home while we were away some days. We were even pleasantly surprised by how well he and Cody cleaned up after the project was finished. We absolutely recommend Rob to anyone looking to complete a home project — large or small. We know we will be hiring him again in the future!"

"Complete kitchen remodel including taking the entire roof off kitchen section, house is 100 years old. A complicated job that was preformed perfectly. Every detail of the job was well-thought out and we were guided through the whole process for what to expect for each stage of the project. Flooring was also replaced on the entire first floor, several sections of the house besides the Kitchen were rewired and the entire roof was replaced including replacement of a crumbling chimney. Our house is like brand new and we could not be happier, Kodiak is the only contractor I would ever use, Highest rating possible!"

"We contacted Friedman Home Improvement in December along with other contractors in the area to get estimates for our project. Out of the people we interviewed we immediately felt most comfortable with Friedman. Jason came out for the estimate and I could tell he had attention detail and he asked plenty of questions. He brought up things we hadn't thought about and explained things very well. Jason's crew was amazing. Andy and Mr. McGhee were excellent. They are very skilled, talented, and friendly. I can tell this company puts a lot of effort into deciding on who to hire. The project stayed on time, accurate, and the worksite was kept as clean as well as demolished kitchen getting drywall work can be. I will definitely be recommending our friends to consider Friedman Home Improvement. Work completed: Demolished kitchen Fixed floor Installed light and new outlets Drywall 2 new exterior doors with paint Window replacement"

"Tim (owner) was great to work with—professional, responsive, and very kind throughout the entire process. Jeff, the handyman who handled our plumbing, electrical, and general contractor work, was also fantastic. He was knowledgeable, easy to work with, and did excellent work. We’re very happy with the service and will definitely use them again in the future. Pricing was fair and much lower than other quotes. Highly recommend!"

"Very nice people however poor quality. I feel my contractor had no idea what i was looking for in my patio. He is attempting to fix the issues however i feel it really just needs torn out and re done. Very sloppy, uneven concrete areas, concrete splatters on my window screen, brick wall and awning post."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.
