"We had Imperial remodel our kitchen and attached bath in 2022. We had issues with Imperial throughout the project and we were never sure of costs or when things would be done. In fact, once the contract was signed Imperial rarely communicated with us unless we called them. Imperial is way understaffed. They had one guy working on multiple houses at the same time which meant our house was at a standstill while he was someplace else. My question is why do they only have one guy doing most of the work? Delays occurred when the shower door and vanity top had to be reordered a few times because the wrong size arrived and couldn’t be installed. I guess the third time is the charm. The under counter lights would not come on or we’d loose power in the kitchen. The baseboard heater in the bath didn’t work but instead of believing me when I complained I was told how highly rated the brand is. After complaining all winter it finally got fixed in the spring. They tried to substitute accessories we ordered in the showroom with different ones so we ended up purchasing some elsewhere at our expense. But the last straw is we did not receive the high end cabinets we paid for. There were issues with paint flaws, seams separating and wood cracking. Doors and cabinets had to be replaced. Recently two installers came out to replace a cabinet and put a long scratch in the floor. But instead of offering a solution for repairing the floor the owner denied responsibility. It pains me to write a negative review because we like the individual who did most of the work but we would not recommend using Imperial due to the issues we had with them."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

Most hardscaping projects will take a professional between two and seven days, although the timeline can vary widely based on the specific project. For example, a pro can tackle landscape curbing or laying down a gravel path in just a few hours, whereas a paver patio or deck construction can take several days, including the time for footers or concrete slabs to dry. If you’re tackling a simple hardscaping project yourself, expect it to take one to two days to complete.
