"This client was delivered a beautiful project, on-time and on budget This review is this person's retribution for our unwillingness to take responsibility for a floor that was damaged by others and blamed on our workmen. We were told by this client that if we refused to repair her floor that she would go on-line with bad reviews. Her threat was carried through, not just on Angie but on other on-line sites as well. To follow are my responses to several of the false statements made Project costs and Timelines: This customer requested several project changes and was provided change order documents approved in writing with exact costs and informed of extended lead times caused by the changes Communication: Communication was good. Phone calls and text messages were always promptly returned. We met with her in-person in her home many, many times. Jobsite meetings with Project Coordinator and Installer conducted at least once or twice a week. Staffing: We assign installers only one job at a time. The installer took 30 working days to complete the kitchen up to counter-top template. Counters required 2 weeks to be built and installed. Kitchen completed two weeks afterwards. Product Substitutes: From the beginning no bath accessories were included This client chose to purchase her own accessories for us to install. Cabinet Specifications and Quality: Cabinets installed exactly as specified in the contract and exactly as they were shown in our showroom Every door or drawer face was replaced by the manufacturer and Imperial without question as to how minor the imperfections to fit and finish. Her cabinets are near perfect. Scratch in Floor: We absolutely deny scratching this floor. Our solution was to allow a third party to determine fault. I put in a claim with our insurance company. The insurance investigator refused the claim because it was obvious who was at fault. Paul Hodge General Manager Imperial Home Center"
Brian was prompt, a pleasure to have around (one of my favorite contractors ever!) and easy to work with. The combination of personality and professionalism is rare in any setting, but Brian was both.
"These folks have been a pleasure to work for. We are so looking forward to tackling the kitchen project. We intend to deliver this client another project, on time and on budget. Hopefully, exceeding their expectations! Paul Hodge, General Manager, Imperial Home Center"
Ron the salesman was very helpful with the design and throughout the whole project. The workmen, Bert and Miguel were wonderful workers. They arrived on time every day, worked until everything that could be done that day was finished. They communicated with us about everything being done so that when problems arose, they were handled smoothly. We have been completely pleased with the work and plan to use this company again for future projects.
I can not say enough about Imperial. They were FABULOUS.
Darla was beyond professional and helpful during the whole entire process. We never once had an issue dealing with her. She was patient with us and helped to design a classy bathroom, which was an upgrade to a house that was not up to standards and very old.
It started out smoothly with the tear-out. We had different contractors in for each activity: one for tiling, one for dry walling, and a separate plumber. The tiles on the floor were placed incorrectly twice. The tiles were completed in
the bathtub/shower first and those came out looking great! But the flooring was an issue.
Next, the drywall has a lot of bubble in is. The seams are not flat and a lot of air was trapped behind the tape that they used. We had to ask twice for them to return to fix the corners.
Thirdly, we were given permission to begin using the shower. After three days of use, our kitchen ceiling collapsed because of water damage! There was a hole in the pipes that connected the shower to the water source. Once we flipped that switch to turn on the shower head, water streamed out of the pipes and collected along the flooring behind the walls (unbeknownst to us until the kitchen ceiling came down). They were very prompt in coming to fix it, and paid for all of the damage, which we really appreciated.
The final thing that went wrong: They cemented the new pedestal sink to our band new floor, and then connected the new light fixture to the wall. The light is not in center with the sink. It's at least 6 inches off. We couldn't do anything about it because there is a hole in the brand new walls for where they connected all of the electric, and the sink is permanently placed. Also, they did not measure the light switch covers. They left them open for things to dry. Once we placed all of the light switch covers on, there is a 1/2 inch gap between the cover and the wall. We're just going to have to go out and buy something wider to cover the hole. I know people will think we should have called them to fix it, but after so many issues, we had just had enough.
To remain positive though, they were all very nice individuals and very hard-working. There were just too many things that did not go well for how much money we paid for something that we were told would take 2 weeks. A month later and we are finally painting.
"Disappointing review. Our project execution should have been better. The leak in the shower was costly, embarrassing, and horribly inconvenient for the Client. Completely our fault. We laid down some factory blemished tiles that we were asked to remove and replace. In hindsight, we should have stopped the job and ordered new tiles right away. We accept this tough criticism and will strive to execute near-perfect installation projects in the future. Our apologies to the Client. We will attempt to reach out to her and offer to correct the centering of the light fixture and adjust the light switch."
The cabinets were ordered well in advance of the actual installation date and arrived on time and in very good condition. Waypoint Living Spaces sent us a very nice gift basket as a way of saying thanks. As corny as that may seem, we have a very good feeling about that supplier, especially after seeing the flawless furniture grade linen-colored painted finish on solid maple.
There was some confusion about the color and thickness of the trim material to be used to fill in the ~3/16" recess between the side of the cabinet . This filler is needed in order for the decorative panel to be flush with the face frame. Mark expedited the re-ordering process for the correct material, and that came just in time for the vanity installation.
Mark also helped us select a style of granite for the counter-top. Although it is a fairly common material, Luna Pearl, the supplier Mark recommended did not have any in stock. We ordered that separately from a different supplier (see my separate review for that).
We were very pleased with Mark and the folks at Imperial Home Center , and would readily recommend them to others.
Since the installation I have had concerns about the glass shower door slowly lowering and eventually rubbing the top capped surface of the half wall. They decided to have a glass door specialist make the adjustment and bill them for his time. The specialist has come out to reposition the door upwards and tighten the screws on the hinges twice in the last 12 months. Both times there was a delay because of the specialist's busy work schedule. When I hired Imperial I was told that if their customers are not pleased with any part of the job, they would come out and make it right, which they continue to do as necessry. I'm very pleased with their commitment to their customers.
There were a few things we wanted tweeked and they were more than willing to work with us to finish things the way we wanted. Frank did the finishing up of the little details at the end and was extremely helpful and nice. I am very happy with how things turned out. We did not get other quotes, so I'm not sure if the price was good or not. We purchased almost everything from them.
Honestly, they were all very nice and professional to work with. I am undecided whether or not I would use them again.
