"One of the 2 employees from D&B arrived at my house and after I showed him where the leak was, he made the decision right then and there that my home warranty would not cover the costs. At this point, I had already paid $100 for the service call fee and wanted to know my options, including costs out of pocket. He said that he'd call me within 2 days after writing up a summary. A week went by and did not hear anything, but I did get an email informing me that my service request had been closed/resolved and that D&B was paid for their time. Needless to say, I was surprised b/c all they did was come to my house and spend less than 10 minutes. PLEASE DO NOT use these guys--even if your home warranty company uses them, request another company OR pay for a qualified plumber on your own. I do think that this company survives only by collecting service fees from individuals who work through their home warranty companies."

"Super pleased! A/C broke on a weekend, during a heat wave (yuck!). Brad was able to get the issue diagnosed and fixed the same day I called. My experience with the corporate chain I previously used is they send someone out without a lot of experience who likes at it for a few minutes and then tells me I need a new AC. Brad actually talks to you about how the system is behaving, what the symptoms are, then runs some tests before telling you what’s wrong and how to fix it. Super knowledgeable. Thorough. Reasonably priced."

Because of that we don't use subcontractors, we don't pass off sub standard furnaces and air conditioners as a premium system, our technicians average 19 years of experience, and we perform a precision tune up and cleaning rather than a system check or inspection. Why? Because we understand our customer’s success drives ours. Call and see why Choice Comfort Services is the top choice for your heating and air conditioning needs. We proudly provide our services to Dayton, Vandalia, Englewood, Tipp City, Troy, New Carlisle, Huber Heights, and the entire Northern Miami Valley in Ohio.

"Choice Comfort Services is my go to provider for HVAC, electrical and plumbing projects. This past fall my wife and I purchased a new home that needed some repairs and updating. Choice Comfort Service techs came through on multiple occasions, even in a time crunch. Some of the projects they did include but not limited to: Re-located a cold air return Replaced chandeliers and lights Installed outlets Replaced exhaust fans and faucets in bathrooms Performed preventative maintenance on furnace Inspected the air condition and discovered a part on the verge of failure. Installed a new cable run In addition, a tech brought to my attention bare electrical wires near flammable insulation in the attic that the whole inspector missed. He also took the initiative to fix. There techs are always courteous and friendly. They take great care in leaving the home as clean as they found it. Overall, the fees are higher than some, but in line with the value of service rendered. And value is what one should consider. Having one company perform all of these services also gives me peace-of-mind that if something should happen to me, my family can rely on them as I have."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Having gas appliances in your home can be convenient—you benefit from faster water heating, more efficient clothes drying, and more affordable home heating. However, you need to be aware of the signs of a gas leak so that you and your family can take precautions to be safe around these versatile appliances.

Signs of a gas leak include:

  • Hissing sounds

  • Rotten egg smell

  • Higher than usual gas usage

  • Physical symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness, and nausea

The effect a gas fireplace has on your gas bill will depend on how often you use it, the size of the rooms you’re heating with it, and the BTUs of the fireplace itself, but generally speaking, it should only cost a few cents an hour to run it when it’s on. It will consume minimal energy when it’s “off” if you have a pilot light running constantly, but some modern gas fireplaces don’t require a constant pilot light.

Fixing a gas leak can take anywhere from one to 24 hours, depending on the location and magnitude of the problem. A gas line specialist or gas plumber should be able to give you an estimated time to completion once they evaluate the situation. If your city’s utility company works to fix a gas leak, it will likely have information available about the anticipated time for gas service to be restored.

Capping a gas line costs approximately $125. The final price varies from $75 and $150 depending on your contractor’s hourly rate. To completely remove a gas line and cap it at the base can cost up to $250. Most contractors will charge a flat fee instead of by the hour since capping is often part of a larger project.

Installing a gas line is no simple task. From start to finish, you’re looking at anywhere from six to 12 weeks to acquire the correct permits, dig a trench, and connect your appliances. Naturally, the longer the gas line, the longer it will take to complete. If your plumber needs to hire additional contractors to dig trenches and navigate around or remove obstacles, this could put you at the longer end of the timeframe.

Once the land is prepped and licenses acquired, installing the actual line may only take a few days to a few weeks, weather permitting.
