"Any Season Property Services did an amazing job finishing our basement. They were flexible with issues that occurred and change requests that we made. The work that they did was impeccable and we are extremely happy with everything. The cost was also very affordable and they were the only company within our budget. I can not recommend this team enough. Thanks again or all the care and hard work you put in to give us the basement that we never thought we would have."

"Bob and his crew were outstanding. I had some concerns about having the basement finished, and going through interviewing different contractors was a pain. Bob was the only contractor the brought up safety concerns (new smoke detector, CO2 detector and even a batter backed up secondary sump pump to ensure that if the power went out or the original pump failed my basement will remain dry). He and his crew were professional and did great work. The quality of their work is fantastic and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting work done on their basement. Bob and his team included both my wife and me in the project, giving us updates and asking questions on what we wanted done."

"Jeff and Corey accomplished all requests, despite the difficulty of old post removal despite heavy roots, rock retaining wall, poured concrete patio, and garage foundation. Both are very personable and easy to communicate with. Extremely pleased with the end result."

"Originally hired lacey to do some basic drywall repair and ended up getting a whole remodel in my basement and living room lacey went above and beyond my expectations and even stayed late some nights to make sure it got done and I didnt have to stay in a hotel so long. Hes a very kind and professional businessman and does all the work himself and we should appreciate guys like him. 10 out of 10 recommend LDS Construction Solutions"

"Mike and his team were AMAZING!! After several experiences with sub par contractors we finally found one that explained the entire process, kept the project with budget, and finished on time and completely. The entire team had excellent customer service and excellent craftsmanship. Our basement remodel included excavating, full bathroom, and a legal bedroom with additional living space. Every person on his team was outstanding! They even put up with my senile dog who would bark the entire time, and also sing along with my daughter to sponge bob while they were working. In addition anytime we had a question or a concern they would always take the time to explain. After a few weeks we started to consider them family. Hire these guys!! They will not disappoint! :)"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

In addition to overseeing new home builds, construction managers work on large renovations and major remodels. For example, they may work with designers and oversee the construction of a finished basement, kitchen renovation, or a home addition. They may also oversee large-scale remodels, such as the update of a historic home. Construction managers step into small projects for more specific assistance, such as building budgets and compiling the team.

The time it takes to finish or remodel a basement can vary significantly, ranging from a few weeks to several months or even up to a year. On average, the construction phase can take four to eight weeks, but the total project time can extend to three or four months when including planning and permits. The timeline depends on several factors, including the basement's size, design complexity, the scope of the work, and your contractor's availability. A more detailed breakdown for an average-sized basement might include: framing (3-5 days), electrical and rough-in plumbing (3-5 days), drywall installation (5 days), flooring (2-3 days), and final touches like painting and trim (about a week). If preliminary work like installing a waterproofing system or addressing structural issues is needed, the timeline could extend to six to twelve months. Factors like difficult access, material transport, and ventilation needs can also add to the project's duration.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment. A reasonable deposit is typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost, although this can vary by project size and location. This upfront payment helps the contractor cover initial costs like materials, permits, licensing, and hiring subcontractors. The remaining balance is usually billed according to a schedule outlined in your contract, often tied to project milestones or completion dates. Be cautious of contractors who ask for a large deposit of 50% or more, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.
