"Everything was great. From the salesman (Stephen) thru the install (Tyson & Co.), I really have no complaints. Everyone was easy to talk to. I did not really price them out against other services, but there is no question that I feel confident in my decision. The value and quality were great. For example, Stephen mentioned they would use a Bobcat to dig out the egress window. Tyson recommended that they hand dig the egress in order to save our Japanese Maple. Although this extended the project by about a day, it was no big deal. I would highly recommended this company to folks looking for either an internal waterproofing service or an egress window."

"Windows are good. Work was sloppy. Still finding shards of glass on the floor and the furniture a week after completion. Caulking looks like a third grader did it- including caulking the screen door to the frame. For this type of investment, they should act like professionals."

"I replaced my windows over one year ago and I am writing to say how happy I am with the product and installation from AM Weathertechs. I purchased Preservation 3-pane glass and they are excellent. The installation team was outstanding and worked hard to complete the job in 4+ hours. My heating bills have been reduced by about 20% and I would highly recommend AM Techs to anyone looking for a good product that will be installed by professionals."

"Amazing company. We needed 13 windows re-screened and had the hardest time finding a company willing to do the job. Tim didn t hesitate and was willing to take the job. He was easy to communicate with and the work was top notch! We will contact this company again whenever we need anything at all done. He shared pictures of recent remodels of kitchens and baths that were gorgeous! They do it all!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Shower doors can shatter on their own in rare cases. Glass shower doors are manufactured to high standards to ensure their durability. If you’d prefer a shower door that’s less likely to break, opt for laminated glass rather than tempered glass. If you have glass shower doors, inspect them regularly. Check that all the hardware is in good shape and the glass has no chips or cracks.

Yes, you can hire someone to hang a mirror in your home if you’re unable to tackle the job yourself. You can search for nearby mirror installers, but often, your best bet is a local handyperson. If you’re having other work done in the same room, such as plumbing, drywall, or electrical, those contractors are likely able to help hang the mirror as well—no need to hire someone else.

There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.

The best tool for DIYers to use to cut glass is a glass cutter, which can either use a straight blade or a sharp cutting wheel to score glass. Once you score the lines you want to cut, elevate the scored line over a pivot point and apply light, even pressure to both sides. Make sure you wear protective gloves and glasses to stay safe during the process.

In terms of initial material and installation, glass stair railings are costlier than railings made from materials like wood, metal, or cable. Whether they are worth the investment often comes down to personal preference. Glass railings can offer a high return on investment, both in monetary value when it's time to sell and in the bold styling and functionality they add to a home. They provide a high level of safety, see-through functionality, and a unique appearance that other materials cannot replicate. From a maintenance perspective, glass railings require little to stay in working order but do need frequent cleaning to look their best.
