"Cole was very professional and polite. Asked me what I was looking for. He mapped it out for me. I needed the ground leved and set up for my She Shed to be delivered. Finished in a day. Reasonable pricing. Weather was a little rainy but that didn't stop him from doing an EXCELLENT JOB. Worked within our schedule. Constant communication Cole. We WILL be hiring tem again for other projects."

DAM Concrete is a new company, built off of 10+ years in the trade. I started with my families company in Toledo, OH and then I joined Local 886 as an apprentice and in 4 years I became a Foreman. I decided to move down the Columbus 3 years ago working as a supervisor for a company. I've been on all sorts of projects from residential driveways and stamped patios, to commercial warehouses and apartment building to just name a few. I've always had the goal to own my own company one day, and I'm starting to live that dream.

"I do not leave positive reviews unless I am truly taken back by the quality of work, and this team totally exceeded my expectations! They added 32 cubic yards of top soil to our back yard to eliminate standing water. Little did I realize that they would spread the top soil so perfectly, gently slooping the back yard toward the neighboring fields drainage conduit. They were so careful at every step. They power washed my drive while also breaking down and hauling away old garden boxes as part of the backyard cleanup exercise. They are awesome guys to talk to and they carefully guided me through my responsibilities with watering the new grass seed that they thoroughly covered with a thick layer of straw. I am a DIY kind.of guy and hold contracters work to my own standard. Well, this team exceeded my own standards by a significant margin! As such, I highly recommend them for any related work you may have! Tom New Albany Oh"

"Excellent Service. Mr. Knox communicated everything up front and was very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to make sure that my elderly mother's roof was repaired properly. From start to finish I would give him an A+ on all facets of his communication and the company's workmanship. Go with them, you won't be disappointed."

"Very professional and arrived on time. Pricing was extremely fair. There were other parts of the asphalt that needed patched up. The additional work was done without asking to create a better overall look. Plan to use this company again in the near future."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

The cost to replace a driveway ranges from $8 to $15 per square foot, depending on factors that include material, size, and labor. If your driveway has deep cracks, potholes, or drainage issues (or if it’s simply past its prime), replacement might be the smarter investment over constant repairs. Resurfacing can be a cheaper alternative at $3 to $20 per square foot, but it won’t fix your driveway’s underlying problems.

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.

Driveway paving costs around $4,500 on average, but depending on many factors, you could pay anywhere from $2,500 to $6,600 or more. The size of your driveway will usually be the most significant factor, with more square footage increasing your costs. You can expect to pay between $2 and $15 per square foot for paving services. Some other factors that play a role include the following:

  • Quality of the materials

  • Contractor’s experience and expertise

  • Site preparation and grading, if necessary

  • Layout of your driveway

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.
