"I am very happy with the new roof. Daryl, the sales rep, communicated everything very nicely and made sure that I was given the best option for my roof. Mike, Devan, and Walter were the project managers and they were very helpful throughout the roof install. "Adrian was fast and thorough from the beginning - from the quote, to scheduling and installation. We had to wait for better weather to add the gutters after installing the metal roof, but it was no problem. Can't control the weather. Price was right, installation team (s) - tear off, install, finish work and gutters, were all great. They were respectful, kept the site clean and kept their trucks and gear out of the way of neighboring businesses, which was important."

In contrast, wood shakes are typically hand-split or sawed on only one side, giving them a more textured, natural, and rustic appearance. Due to these manufacturing differences, shakes are generally thicker, heavier, and less uniform than shingles. They are also more expensive. Homeowners seeking a more rustic aesthetic often choose shakes, while those preferring a more uniform look may opt for shingles. Both are installed in an overlapping pattern to create a durable, weather-resistant roof.

There are several pros and cons of flat roofs. One disadvantage of flat roofs is that you lose potential attic space because it's flat. Flat roofs tend to pool water and because they lack an angle, any leak in the roof—usually due to a bad seal—has the potential to let in a lot of water. They don’t work well in climates with snow. Flat roofs are also structurally weaker than sloped roofs.

Technically, a flat roof can be raised, but it’s extremely expensive, and there would not be much of a point. Most homeowners raise the roof in their homes to access the space between their existing ceiling and the roof, but flat roofs don’t have this space. Therefore, you can raise a flat roof, but it involves heavy structural modification.
