"My family wanted a fence built in our backyard. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted in both style and placement of it. So I posted thr job on Angi. Fencecraft called me back immediately after posting the job and provided a quote quickly after that. Our first concept for the fence went over our budget. So he came back out and gave me a second quote that fit our budget while keeping our idea for the fence largely in place. They came in three weeks to build our fence and knocked it out. They did a very professional job. Many people in my neighborhood have stopped over just to compliment our new fence. Fenceraft is AAA service that I would hire again and have no issue recommending. Straightforward, honest, and they listened to us and in the end, Fencecraft built the fence we wanted."

"I was in need of a fence for my backyard, and I turned to my neighborhood Facebook group to ask for recommendations. Multiple people recommended LP Fencing, specifically highlighting the wonderful customer service. I reached out, and from the start, Luis was kind and helped turn my idea into my ideal fence. His team completed it in just a few days, and he kept me updated throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Luis for any of your fencing or decking needs!"

"The entire process from start to finish was excellent. There was constant communication, and the work was completed when they said it would be done. Feliks is professional and thorough. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with his work. He even fixed a few loose boards on my fence that wasn't a part of the job. I highly recommend him. An absolutely wonderful, hard-working young person."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A setback is an area of space between your fence and the property line, meaning you build a fence a few inches before your neighbor’s property begins. You can build your fence on a setback—some communities recommend this—but this means a sliver of your property will be on your neighbor’s side of your fence.

While cedar and pine are two of the most common wooden fence materials, everything from redwood to bamboo is also available. You can also purchase pressure-treated wood, which better withstands water damage and the threat of pests. The best wood for your fence will come down to your budget, local climate, and preferred look.

Regular maintenance for wire fencing includes annual inspections for rust or damage, tension adjustments every two to three years, and immediate repair of any breaks or loose sections. You should also regularly check the fence posts for stability, particularly after severe weather, and make sure to remove any vegetation growing along the fence line.

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.
