Customers say: Quality work

"Their work is absolutely beautiful and totally perfect. I would give them 6 stars if I could! That they could do the job that they did, in the time that they did it, and for less $ than other painters (by far)...seriously, they can't be beat. I will definitely use them again!"

"Mike and Jim did an outstanding job leveling, reinforcing and and structurally improving my mother's deck. They made certain that my 90 year old mother could safely navigate outdoors on the deck which is her very favorite place to be! "We had a great experience with OSS Drywall and Painting. They painted the exterior brick of our house as well as stained our cedar. It was a big job and they showed up on time every day, were extremely professional and answered all of our questions. They worked well with us when we changed the scope of the project slightly and also were able to do repair work as necessary. The entire team worked hard for the 2 weeks they were at our house and treated our property with respect. I can t say enough good things about the work and service we received from OSS. I would hire them again and again for any of our painting needs."

"I had a great experience hiring them to paint my kitchen cabinets. Each day arriving on time, letting me know the process along the way. In addition to this, details that I may not have considered were covered. For example there was a corner trim piece to my cabinet missing. They went to Home Depot, purchased the piece and brought me a receipt for reimbursement. It looks much nicer when these details are noticed. My kitchen looks wonderful. I am very happy."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You should seal your deck every one to two years, but you’ll also need to clean and repair your wood deck throughout the seasons. You may want to hire a local house cleaning service to sweep and clean the deck thoroughly. These cleaning services cost around $50 per hour.

Inspect your deck at least once a year, and if you notice any damage or rot, expect to spend about $10 to $50 for simple DIY fixes or about $2,000 for professional repairs on more extensive damage.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.

Pricing depends on prep work, paint/stain choice, area size, scaffolding needs, and detailed trim inclusions like precision-balanced windowsills.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.
