"The condition of our previous steps was deteriorating, which compromised both their aesthetic appeal and safety. Cleveland Concrete Steps provided competitive pricing and demonstrated professionalism and flexibility throughout the process. They exhibited a commendable willingness to work in inclement weather conditions, such as rain and cold temperatures. Moreover, they ensured consistent communication regarding the status of the project up until the installation date. During the installation, the team was forthcoming in explaining the necessary adjustments required to accommodate the new steps. Their honesty and trustworthiness were evident, and the crew maintained a friendly demeanor while keeping the work area tidy during both the removal of the old staircase and the installation of the new one. Prior to the replacement, we refrained from inviting guests into our home due to concerns regarding potential injuries from the existing steps. Notably, both our neighbors and passersby expressed admiration for the service provided, often stopping to request contact information to arrange similar replacements for their own steps. Cleveland Concrete Steps significantly enhanced the overall appearance of our home. Sincerely Sameka C., satisfied customer, comments thank you."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

You don't need gravel under metal fence posts, but it's always a good idea to add it in. Adding about six inches of gravel before you pour concrete will provide better water drainage, which can help to prolong the lifespan of your new fence and maximize its stability.

Generally, the height of your dog fence should be 3 times the distance from the ground to your dog’s shoulder. For most small breeds, a 4-foot high fence will be more than enough to keep them from jumping out. Medium-sized breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and German Shepherds will need at least a 5-6 foot fence to stay contained. Large breeds that are also excellent jumpers, such as Greyhounds, may need a 7-foot high fence.

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

The distance between fence posts is guided by the terrain you’re installing them on, the purpose of the fence, and the material it’s made of. For the average wooden garden fence, posts should be about 6 to 8 inches apart. But if you’re going with a mesh, wire, lattice, or chain link fence, you could set the fence posts anywhere from 6 to 25 feet apart.

One common approach to attaching lattice is using screws or nails. Align the lattice panel with the wood frame, then secure it by driving screws or nails through the lattice into the wood. Another option is using U-shaped or J-shaped clips or brackets designed for lattice attachment, which provide a neater look. For added stability and aesthetics, you can use molding or framing around the lattice edges, attaching it to the wood with screws or nails—lastly, construction adhesive works when combined with other fasteners for enhanced durability.
