"Everything went smoothly from the estimate of work we received  from Jerry to solve our problem right down to the crew that came to do the work. They arrived promptly and were very professional in their work. Sanders, the foreman, explained to us what work was being done and updated us as the work progressed putting in the drain tile, installing the weep hole cove protection and re-cementing the basement floor.  He was very professional in answering our questions about the work being performed. They were very cautious in covering up our things with plastic to protect against the "dust" when the concrete was removed to expose the floor for the drain tile and cleaned up very well when the work was completed - both in the basement and in the driveway.

"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

"Eric was very professional and completed the job in a timely manner. He made some very useful recommendations on how to mitigate issues with access to the plumbing in the future. I would definitely recommend him and use his services in the future."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"Before the work started, we were told it would take 3 to 5 days; the HVAC was installed in that time, but took about 6 months for them to work out the kinks of the whole house generator (installation was complicated due to my solar panel array).  There was some initial damage and the owner has remedied any issues.  To be honest, this is probably one of the biggest residential projects you could have.  I have a three zone system and we've had issues with the automated ducts, but Bob has came out and fixed each one (we're on an extended warranty, because we have considerable dust/dander in the home).  The AC works like a charm, but I'm disappointed with how much energy it takes to heat with geothermal.  I went from ~$500 electric every month with ~$700/$800 in propane during the winter to $225 to $550/month with the geothermal.  So there is a substantial monthly cost savings but I was hoping for more.  Monthly savings coupled with the federal tax credits, I think it is worth the investment.  I also went from two units down to one, so there is less maintenance required (we installed an electric air filtration system, so it's more expensive, but we have cleaner air).  "

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Depending on the issue, you have a good shot at fixing a leaking sink yourself. If you have some plumbing experience or are comfortable with DIY jobs, you can clean the P trap, tighten nuts, replace washers, and replace shut-off valve stems on your own. For more complicated jobs, such as repairing a garbage disposal, calling a pro may be the way to go.

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system

Yes, it’s necessary to have a sink drain stopper. While your sink will still work without a stopper, a stopper is necessary to keep things other than water from going down into your pipes and potentially clogging them. It prevents plumbing problems by keeping out unwanted debris and objects like hair, soap, toothpaste, dirt, and jewelry.

The main cause of bathroom leaks is seals and connectors that loosen or deteriorate over time, causing leaks to develop. It's important to stay on top of your bathroom materials, as toilets, showers, and sinks all have different lifespans. Toilets and faucets last between 10 and 15 years on average with regular maintenance, but different parts may have shorter lifespans than others.

The time it takes to install a sink depends on whether you hire a professional or do it yourself, as well as the complexity of the job. A professional plumber can typically install a sink in 1 to 4 hours, with most routine jobs taking around 1 to 2 hours. However, more complicated installations will take longer. Projects that involve rerouting plumbing, installing an under-mount sink, or making countertop modifications can take a full day. Installing a sink with a prefab vanity could also stretch the project to 6 to 8 hours. If you plan to install the sink yourself, you should set aside 4 to 6 hours, though it could take longer. It's also recommended to have a friend help, especially if you are working with a heavy sink made of a material like porcelain.
