"We worked with Jonathan, the owner, to review our options, understand the installation process and the costs. Once we agreed to proceed, Jonathan scheduled an appointment for his installer, James, to come out and see the bedrooms, make sure there were no issues or challenges that would prevent the installation and review our choices. James was on time and very professional. He explained that he and his crew would dig the window well area by hand. This was great to hear... no heavy equipment. James went over the different types of egress windows and which ones were best for our window locations. Based on that visit we made the final decisions and Jonathan ordered the windows. When they arrived James and his very able crew came back to install the two windows. They installed one window per day, cleaning up after themselves inside and out, leaving everything as they found it. After two days we had two new egress windows installed by an extremely professional team from Jackson Egress. We were and are very happy customers."

Customers say: Quick response

"KVB Excavating did 4 projects for us: drain tile to prevent gutter flooding/overflow, re-sloping driveway from the garage, adding topsoil to the back yard and regrading for better flow of water, and creating a new walking path in our field by the woods - removing fallen trees and smoothing the path. They solved our problems. Gene was great to work with...friendly, honest, dependable and he wants things done right. We're planning on bringing them back in the spring for other projects. Reasonably priced. Very pleased and we highly recommend them."

"I had Advanced Restoration out to estimate what it would take to shore up the foundation of a house I bought. Rather than try and sell me Marty suggested I give it a few months to see if it was still shifting since I had had tuckpointing recently done. He was right no active shifting is occurring thus saving me money. When I get an egress window put in I will definitely reach out to them again. Highly recommended!"

"The Wyscarvers are an excellent organization with good carpentry & construction skills. Much other work such as plumbing, electricity, & roofing, etc., are done by subcontractors. All of the subcontractors did a good job, except for the electrician who was only average. Overall, they are a well organized company who good work."

"Owner Mike Speziale installed 3 exterior garage lights, installed a longer downrod on an outdoor ceiling fan, and installed a new kitchen faucet and sprayer. While installing the kitchen faucet Mike discovered a pipe fitting under the sink that was leaking. He left and went to another job while I went to get the additional parts and came back a few hours later to finish ."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to save money on egress window installation. First, choosing pre-fabricated windows instead of custom windows can help dramatically reduce the overall cost. In addition, skipping window extras, like customized frames or window film, can help save money on the price tag without sacrificing the window itself. You should also shop around to multiple window installers to find the best installation deal without sacrificing the quality of the window.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.
