Customers say: Quick response

"I had a positive experience with Inside Out Home Enchantments. I hired them to trim bushes and lay mulch for the front and back flowerbeds and they look exceptionally better than before-the beds were in dire need of some help! The crew was friendly, responsive to texts and I appreciated the final walk through when they had finished. Would hire again!"

"Marco has been nothing but professional since we began working with him. He gave us a good price on our new irrigation system and it has worked as expected since he installed it. He does the seasonal turn on/off for us 2x a year. He cares about his customers and work...which can be hard to find these days. I highly recommend Marcos Irrigation."

"Robert at Artium replaced a ceiling light for us. The old light was at least 50 years old and had been installed incorrectly. Robert explained what he had to do, took the old light down, repaired the insulation on a couple of the old wires and installed the light correctly. He is very friendly and courteous. The work was done when promised and his rate is very reasonable, probably on the low end. We will use him on our next electrical projects."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Modern outdoor light fixtures are waterproof and weather resistant, and, provided they’re installed correctly and by a professional, the fixture and wiring can last for 20 to 30 years or more. The lifespan will depend largely on the quality of the fixture. The lifespan of the bulb will depend on the type of light you install:

  • CFL bulb (for sustained use): 15,000 hours

  • Halogen bulb (mostly for security): 2,000 hours

  • HID bulbs (for security): 12,000 hours

  • Incandescent bulb: 1,000 hours

  • LED bulb: 50,000 hours

Yes, professional landscape lighting is typically worth the investment. Installing a lighting system can improve your home’s curb appeal, safety, and security, and it can also deter burglars. It adds value to your home by creating a brightly-lit outdoor space you can use after dark and making the property more appealing to potential buyers. According to the National Association of Realtors, landscape lighting can add up to $2,500 to your home’s value, and on average, this type of home improvement has a 50% return on investment.

High-quality landscape lights that are hardwired and properly maintained can last for 10 to 25 years or more. You’ll usually get a longer lifespan from soffit lights and wall-mounted lights that aren’t directly exposed to the elements or prone to damage from foot traffic or vehicle traffic. Solar-powered and battery-powered lights often won’t last as long, but you can still expect a lifespan of five to 15 years.

No, you should not leave LED Christmas lights up all year. While the LED lights themselves are very durable, their wiring and casings can be as vulnerable as any Christmas lights. They’re subject to drying out, experiencing cold or sun damage that causes them to crack, and even damage caused by gnawing pests. (The same is true of incandescents.) If you want your lights to last the years that they’re rated for, bring them inside after Christmas is over.

Costs depend on system type, issue severity, and labor rates.
