"If you are looking to add a quality deck to your home, I would highly recommend working with Joseph Nasser. The entire experience from start to finish was fantastic. Joseph was the first company to contact me after requesting estimates from a few companies. He and his crew were efficient, professional, and very detail oriented. My existing deck was removed very quickly and then came the building of the substructure. I had done quite a bit of research and had experience with building decks. I was very pleased to see a detailed plan of the substructure and interested in watching it come together. The crew answered my many questions during the entire process and were extremely patient with some last-minute changes I requested on the steps and rail configuration. They went above and beyond to give me the deck of my dreams and I couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve already made plans to hire Joseph for another upcoming project. This is by far the best experience I've ever had with a contractor."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.

Historically, Tudor homes originally stemmed from the 15th and 16th centuries, while Victorians appeared during Queen Victoria's reign in the 19th century. The design and structural differences are significant as well. The many types of Victorian architecture—such as Italianate architecture—typically feature ornate trim, wood siding, wraparound porches, and tall towers on top, such as belvederes. On the other hand, Tudor-style homes feature white stucco exteriors with exposed wooden rafters marking the house frame both inside and out.

While many different factors determine whether a house is classified as a villa, many villas are detached homes with a European design influence, often with an emphasis on luxury and comfort. Modern villas often feature outdoor spaces such as terraces, gardens, or patios.

How long it takes to build a custom home or rebuild a home after a disaster varies depending on many factors, but averages between seven and 14 months. Smaller homes or homes that don’t need a re-poured foundation may take less time to build than larger homes or homes without an existing foundation. Material availability, contractor schedules, and permit and inspection timelines can all affect how long your house takes to build.

It usually takes around four to six months to build and install a modular home, although your timeline could go up to around eight months if there are delays in the manufacturing or permitting process. Heavy site preparation and foundation pouring can extend that timeline if you need them, as can customizations you want for your modular home. Your modular home company should be able to provide an estimate for the construction timeline before you sign any contracts or agree to any work.
