"America's Basement team was great to work with. Chad (the Foreman) on our my basement project was very helpful in going through his plan prior to starting and also gave me updates throughout the day. Chad and his crew was able to complete the project efficiently and was able to complete the job in under a day. They also did a great job with answering any questions I had. Overall I was 100% pleased with the service and now I trust that my basement will no longer leak. I highly recommend America's Basement Contractor for any waterproofing needs."
"They did a great job installing French drains and sump pump in our basement. Great communication! They changed work plan to cater to our needs and got it done in one day, staying until it was finished. Very reasonably priced!! Highly recommend!!"
"The Highlander Waterproofing team arrived on time. They were cordial, evaluated the the job and began work immediately. They were very professional, having the knowledge and skills to successfully complete the job. Would highly recommend Highlander Waterproofing, excellent job in reinforcing and strengthening the basement wall."
"USA Waterproofing services did a very good job with our basement .The workers were all professional and left the basement clean and also they explained the way the work was done. Steve, the president of the company even gave his cell no. to me just in case I have problem. I could recommend them to my friends anytime."
"Excellent - Josh, Mark, and the team tore out 3 feet of concrete floor to replace the base of the stack pipe then worked their way up. Project took 2 days, first floor was completed and back on line the first day. Second floor and cleanup was done the second. 100 year old home so none of the old plumbing was easy to access. Very happy with results and with the professionalism of his team."
"I had a pretty bad flood in my basement after the heavy storms that came through back in June. I realized that my sump pump was the reason so I needed to replace it.
I wanted something with more horsepower and after doing some research, I decided an ejector pump would work best for my home. Tyler was very friendly and understanding of my situation. He told me about some options, gave me the literature and a fair price for what I wanted.
He and his team were very professional and attentive and definitely knowledgeable about the equipment and installation process. I was a little apprehensive about going with a company that’s just starting out, but Tyler gave me a good feeling about their company and products. I’m very happy with the installation and the service I received. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again (although I hope I never have to) for any future needs. We have multiple rental properties, so I would call him first if I ever need service at any of them. A+++"
"I wish I had hired them first! I hired another company to fix my moving bowed and shearing basement walls. They were primarily a waterproofing company, but said they had the solutions to my issues. 3 months after they were complete, my walls cracked and shifted again. (Note, in the attached photos, the patchwork quilt on the walls was the OTHER company.) OBA fixed my issues the correct way. And they were great at every step. The work crew Caleb, Delontae, and Dylan were fast, efficient, and cleaned up when they were done. Caleb made sure to explain what was happening as they did the work and ask if I had questions. The work was thorough, and I feel good about it. And even better, they'll be out in 6 months to ensure everything is working as it should and make adjustments if needed."
"I called WyattWorks based on Angie?s list reviews and a couple word ?of-mouth recommendations. They were outstanding! The receptionist was very helpful. She helped to get someone out that same day, since I would not be home again for several days. Water had been backing up through the drain in my basement and was particularly bad on the day I called. Ben C. and an assistant called to let me know when they would arrive, and they were on time. Ben listened to my description of the problem, examined the situation and prepared a quote for the work . I received a significant Angie?s list discount, which was awesome. After agreeing to the price, they set to work. The culprit proved to be masses of small roots which had worked their way into the sanitary sewer line through the joins in the clay pipes. The work took longer than they expected (4 hours) and required the use of their in-line camera and hydrojet to clear the lines, working both from within the basement and from the clean-out in the yard. They stuck with the job until all roots were removed, and then cleaned up what ended up being a very big mess in the basement. Ben was polite, focused, and skillful in handling the problem. He explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. Importantly, they stood by their original estimate even though it took longer than they anticipated. . They did excellent work, and I will certainly call them again if I have plumbing issues. You should call them too! "
Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts
Yes, water and water vapor can seep through cracks in your basement floor, which means you should address all basement floor cracks, even if they don’t indicate structural issues. Sealing settling cracks and shrinkage cracks is a good idea to keep water and moisture outside where it belongs. Doing so can improve your indoor air quality, reduce the risk of mold growth, make your home more comfortable, and help prevent pest infestation.
The purpose of crawl space encapsulation is to prevent mold by blocking moisture and reducing humidity. If the vapor barrier is properly installed, it significantly reduces the chance of mold developing within the crawl space. However, mold can sometimes grow behind the encapsulation material, but it will be sealed away from the main area. Additionally, moisture can still condense inside the encapsulated space, so if you notice excess humidity, installing a dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and mildew growth.
Living in a finished basement is acceptable, but only if the space has the proper points of egress and includes smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to ensure the safety of the occupants. A good way to ensure your finished basement is suitable for use as living space is to get the basement finishing project properly permitted.
Mold and mildew are the things in basements that actually cause the musty odors, but moisture is the underlying issue that causes mold and mildew growth. Addressing moisture and water problems and then removing materials that are moldy are some of the best ways to get rid of the musty odors. Preventive measures after that—like installing air fresheners and a dehumidifier—can help keep musty odors from returning.
Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.
