"Other than sporadic thunder storms, everything went well. Darryl contacted me every work day to say roughly when they would arrive (usually around 9-9:30 range) and the crew worked from then until about 3-3:30ish. They power washed, scraped old paint, repaired some wood and concrete and patched glaring problems in brick. They used 2 paint colors, which involved some detail work in the dormers. All work was thorough and Darryl asked questions and made adjustments as they worked. Each day, ladders were removed from the house and carefully stored in a location on the property. Trash was not left around the lot. Darryl asked us to inspect the work right before their last day and when we sent feedback on a few things, he added some that he had noticed too. All work was fixed to his standard the final day. All of the workers were polite and respectful and the house looks great! We have already recommended this company to some neighbors up the street."

"The movers (Matt and Chad) did a terrific job. They were efficient and courteous, taking care with my furniture both removing it and then delivering it to my new home. I was very impressed and will recommend Moving Ahead to my friends and family.

"They were quick to come out to look over the space for an estimate.  Jennifer called back the next day because she had a cancellation and said if she could get the work, she would give us a good price.  I was not able to commit to having her come out the next day, but after speaking with my husband agreed to have her and her crew come out that Monday.  After a hectic weekend of cleaning out our room sooner than we had planned, they arrived  just a little later than we had originally agreed.  However, they did call earlier to say they were running late.
When they arrived and went to work right away.  They seemed to work diligently all day. The door to the bedroom was closed so I did not watch over them every second.  On one occasion, I went up to tell them I had to go out for a little while and found one of the painters drinking a beer.
The finished work was fine. The walls were painted pretty well but some of the corners where the walls and tile met had some areas that were not covered well.  There was also paint spots on the vinyl floor and carpet.  Luckily, I was planning to replace both the vinyl floor and carpet so it wasn't a huge deal.  They also painted the vanity and there were paint drips on the inside and along the side of the drawer where the slides are fastened.  Also, they did not remove a cold air return grate from the wall to paint behind it.  They only painted around it.
Lastly, I was assured that the paint that was used on the vanity was of very good quality and very durable.  However, every time I accidentally touch the painted wood with my finger nail, the paint scratches off. I am afraid of what will happen if I have to clean it.
On the positive side, they completed the work in one day instead of two and they did a great job patching some drywall that my husband had tried to fix, but it looked bad.

"Jeff inspected house for mold.  Now get this, he found no live mold which tells me that this company is very honest because they are in the business of mold removal.  The inspection was detailed and very helpful.  "

"The job went well. I had them for 8 hours total (4 each). The initial work I had hired them to do (paint the bedroom and hallway doors) was done within the hour, so they moved beyond that job to finish painting the trim elsewhere, including living room, dining room and kitchen. They were even nice enough to help move furniture as required.
They also were careful to use drop cloths and to not track mud and snow into the house.

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

Because poison ivy and similar plants can cause potentially life-threatening allergic reactions depending on your sensitivity, it's best to hire a professional to remove it. Hiring a local lawn care service or other professional also increases your chances of successful eradication so that you don't have to deal with the issue again several months down the road.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it is generally better to remove it first to guarantee a smooth, professional finish. Painting over wallpaper can save time, but it may lead to issues if not done correctly.

You can paint over existing wallpaper if it is in excellent condition: smooth, non-textured, clean, and firmly adhered to the wall. Ensure there are no bumps, tears, or peeling areas, and that all corners and seams are securely glued down. You might also consider painting over wallpaper if removing it would damage the underlying wall. Additionally, some wallpapers are specifically designed to be paintable, which can add texture to a room.

However, there are risks. If the wallpaper is textured, damaged, or peeling, these imperfections will show through the new paint. The moisture from the paint can also loosen the wallpaper's adhesive, causing it to bubble and potentially damage the wall. To mitigate these issues, clean the surface thoroughly and use an oil-based primer to help the paint adhere and prevent the old adhesive from bleeding through.

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.
