"Communication with these folks was great. They kept me informed of what they were doing and, generally, showed up when they said. Kind of unusual for contractors! Their work is top notch. They used the right materials for the job and were professional every step of the way. This was an attic job, and it turns out the 4x8 sheets needed to be cut to fit up the stairs, so they ended up charging $200 more than the original quote, Can't complain. Not cheap, but they did it right. They definitely will be my go-to drywall guys."

"They have done drywall for us 3 times the last in which he had to completely redo the walls and ceiling of our kitchen and also ripped out a fireplace wall and redid it. Chris does excellent work. He is a perfectionist so you know the job will be done correctly. These jobs were done timely and he is affordable. I would recommend him and do to anyone needing drywall work done."

"Chris with Friesen Family Renovations, LLC was very professional and thorough in the work he has completed. Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

To properly clean and maintain your skip trowel drywall texture, dust the surface weekly with an electrostatic duster or vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Never scrub the surface. You can remove stains by gently applying a mild detergent solution with a paint roller, removing it with a damp roller, and drying with a dry roller. To cut down on cleaning frequency, avoid indoor smoking and limit the use of fireplaces.

All plaster walls will crack over time due to normal house settling and expansion and contraction from temperature and moisture changes. You’ll get better results if you soundproof the whole wall. A hole through which light can pass can also let sound waves in. Acoustical or silicone sealant applied to holes and cracks can block enough sound to make a difference. However, the more layers absorb vibrations and slow or stop sound waves, the less noise you’ll have.
