"Set Apart tree service went above. Our expectations from the moment I received the phone call from this company I was treated with respect,. They gave us an honest quote and were able to do the project the very next day they were prompt on their arrival. The job was done at top quality. They went beyond my expectations. I will continue to use the service.. we are having them back out in a few short weeks to remove a couple of sick trees. If you are looking for a top quality and respectful company, this is truly the best company I have worked with in a long time we live in Sagamore Hills ."

"Today was the second time we have used Backyard Stump and Tree Removal. Just as last year, they were prompt with replying to our message (even calling us back on a Sunday), and they were prompt in getting our work done. We had six stumps to be removed, it was done in about 30 minutes, and the area was cleaned up when they were done. Not to mention they are very affordable and the cost has now been the lowest twice in a row. I would recommend them to anyone!"

"So happy that I hired Cedarwood Tree Service, they were so easy to work with and very professional. Gave me a few options and explained each one in its entirety so that I was able to choose the option best for me. They did a great job on removing 2 trees that I needed out of my yard. Thank you Cedarwood!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.

Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.
