"They were professional and on time but knowingly left a gap between the window and the door frame. They replaced a fogged window on a patio door. The gap occurred when they were completing their work. I called to report the problem and I was told all we needed to do was to knock it back into place. They will be on vacation next week and would come out after their vacation if they needed to. There was supposed to be a bracket attaching the 2 pieces that was not installed 23 years ago when the house was built. (not at all surprised and FAIR WARNING: NEVER hire Paino and Associates so much of their work on our house was terribly shoddy. This gap occurred as a result of their work, it would seem to me that they could have knocked the window back into place when they noticed the window was askew."

"I had 11 windows and Wrapping completed in January 2017 and I was completely happy with the work. I decided to have the remaining 12 windows installed. I am extremely pleased with the Windows and the trim. I would definitely recommend this company if you are thinking of buying windows."

"Bernard & Gary were wonderful. The glass in my double hung window (kitchen) was replaced and the vinyl was re-coiled. All in just a half an hour! Last year we had a new patio door installed. Just love it! The quality of their products are top-notch."

"AQC was a great company to work with. They were very responsive to emails and calls and graciously and honestly answered all questions. Great communication is sometimes hard to find with contractors and was greatly appreciated. They also did great work at a fair price. I would hire them again and would recommend them to friends and family for their concrete needs."

"Wow! We love our new basement space! Beautiful Basements did an amazing job for us. It’s hard to find words to describe how pleased we are with the job they did for us. Included was a beautiful new full bathroom and new higher windows to improve the view to the outside and to let in more light. It doesn’t feel like a basement anymore, but like another living room. The guys doing the work quickly became our friends. They arrived punctually every day during the construction period and were very diligent. They made sure they were doing everything exactly as we wanted. Every afternoon when they left they cleaned up meticulously. A continuous timeline of work was adhered to. Plumbers, electricians and inspectors all showed up promptly, so there were no wasted days. Everything was as Dan had promised us, only better. Dan and Ashley stopped over frequently to make sure we were pleased and satisfied. Ashley helped us so much in picking out our flooring, paint and bathroom fixtures. Without her it would have been a tough task, but thanks to her advice and suggestions, the process was very easy and enjoyable. The cost was lower or at least in line with other quotes we obtained, but I doubt we could have gotten the same quality from anybody but Beautiful Basements. I highly recommend this company."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.

The best type of window screen for your home depends on your region and your family’s needs. While fiberglass window screens are a popular, affordable, and easy-to-find choice, you may be looking for different benefits, such as a more high-end look, increased strength, or extended durability. The best window screen meets the demands of your home and its residents while staying within your budget.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.
