"D and A Hauling was true to their word and did a stump grinding job for me. Iâ m retired and appreciate their very competitive quote. •  Contacted them in July and they were prompt in getting back to me. Had work scheduled for the middle of August. Rearranged my vacation so I could be home when they started the job. Waited and waited and finally called. "they couldn't make it" because of weather delays. Not happy so I rescheduled and asked them to call if they couldn't make it. Rearranged my schedule again. Waited and waited. No call. Rescheduled again. They finally started the job The middle of Sept. It was supposed to take 4 days.  the guys working were very good and worked from 7:30-5 on Mon and Tues. On Wed about 5 they pulled the cable out of my wall. Guys very upset. Said they were tired but the boss was rushing them to finish. Boss not very sympathetic to my problem. I was without cable, internet, phone and cell service for 4 days yet boss showed up promptly on Friday morning to collect his money!!!!

A traditional driveway gate isn’t your only option when installing a barricade in front of your driveway. A security gate like a swing gate, double swing gate, bi-folding gate, vertical gate, or pivot gate could work just as well as your driveway gate—if not better for your home depending on which qualities you’re after. Like sliding driveway gates, many of these alternatives work with automatic features that simplify entering and exiting your property.

The best way to stop your pavers from sinking is to ensure you've properly compacted the base layers. Use your paver compactor and work over the base layer several times to create the hardest possible base. If the soil and sand of your base are compact, you’ll experience less shifting and sinking.

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

You can pour concrete over asphalt if it’s in good condition, thick, stable, and well-compacted. Concrete is more durable than asphalt and can extend the lifetime of your driveway without having to pay frequent asphalt driveway repair costs or replace it completely.

But this is best reserved as a temporary solution based on budget restraints, as asphalt requires more frequent repairs and assessments than concrete. Once that concrete top is poured, it’ll be harder to accurately understand what’s happening beneath that layer, which could lead to more issues.
