"Our 450 ft driveway was sealed in one day. Austin and Kyle brushed the sealer ensuring an even coat working from sun up till sundown. The price was reasonable and it looked 10 times better than when the previous sealer company sprayed it on. These guys are hard working young men! We highly recommend them!"

"Great job!! Very professional and thorough. Paid attention to the details. Didn't just slop on the sealer and be on his way. Was flexible with my schedule and arrived on time with a text to let me know he was on his way. Neighbors commented on how nice my driveway now looks. I truly recommend Pave Doctors. (PS. this is a good way to support growing, local businesses.)"

"Excellent Paving Contractor I work at many different construction sites at OSU and one of my tasks is construction administration along with commissioning. I can't say enough how ecstatic and happy I am with Kurt Hill & Son Trucking and Paving! He and his crew did everything perfect including being responsive, quoting a fair price, being punctual, showed up with good operating equipment, enough staff that knew what they were doing working together, working hard and getting the job done! They did our 3000sq ft driveway in 5 hours. Nice and thick too. Asked for no extra $, just showed up, did a bang up job cleaned up and left. He was my low bid, and I checked him out on Angi's list, all good. I received nothing and was not offered anything for this review, simply sharing an outstanding contractor - rare!"

"I recently removed a wall in our house and called RJE General Construction to quote the job of patching the ceiling and existing wall. They came out the same day and gave us a quote that was lower than expected, and significantly lower than another quote I received. My wife and I are extremely happy with the work that was completed. The wall is ready to paint, and they textured the ceiling after they patched it. They used a drop cloth to protect the floors, and swept everything up with a broom and vacuum. The work was incredible, the worker was nice and considerate, and I would highly recommend this company."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

When hiring an asphalt paving contractor to install your driveway, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective driveway contractor:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you have worker’s compensation?

  • Do you use subcontractors on your projects?

  • Do you clean up after the job is done?

  • Who is responsible for any damage to lawn or landscaping?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Do you give free estimates?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three references?

  • Can I see some of the work you’ve done?

You don't technically need to seal your driveway after pressure washing, but doing so will help keep your driveway clean for longer. The best driveway sealer depends on the type of driveway you have. To seal asphalt, consider an asphalt emulsion sealer, fast-drying sealer, or latex acrylic sealer. Concrete driveways commonly use acrylic sealers or penetrating sealers.

You should plan on sealing your driveway about once every five years, although you should plan to do it once every three years if your area experiences frequent rain or snow. Sealing your driveway protects it from moisture, UV rays, and chemicals from your car, like motor oil and antifreeze. If you find that your driveway stains easily or appears to be cracking or fading, you may want to schedule a sealing service regardless of when you last sealed it.

Maintaining a driveway depends on its material. For concrete and asphalt, it's best to clean the surface thoroughly twice a year with a stiff broom and a pressure washer to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Sealing the driveway is crucial to protect it from water damage and freeze-thaw cycles. Before applying a sealant, pressure wash the surface to remove any loose sealant, dirt, or stains, as sealing over them will trap them. Any cracks or expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. In colder climates, use sand instead of salt for de-icing. Sand helps melt snow and ice without accelerating the freeze-thaw process, which can cause cracks.
