"Wow, super fast response from Dave at Acorn Tree Care after a big tree fell on my house during a storm. The whole team was there the next morning, they were even early, when does that happen these days? Dave was incredibly caring and helpful, and the whole team is so friendly, amazing to watch and obviously enjoy what they do. They were even able to fix a dislodged dented gutter! What an absolute pleasure, they are so skilled and wonderful to work with."

"Scheduling the service was very easy. The team was friendly, efficient, careful, and respectful. They made some recommendations about future projects, which was a very welcome addition. I would highly recommend Orozco to anyone needing tree trimming or other landscaping work."

"They did a great job! My job was small so he was very generous with his time! He was quick, kind and efficient! I would hire him again and plan to do so very soon for my other trees! Thank you Twisted Tree!"

"Wayne gave us a bid for removing a bunch of trees and grinding out one stump that was less than half the other bid we got. He worked a long time, cleaned up afterwards and left the trees in firewood length pieces by our woodpile. On top of that, he is a nice guy. We would definitely hire him again."

"Incredible! Denise is so patient and flexible. They were prompt and on schedule. They did outstanding work on major jobs; drainage ditches and excavating some dense woods. They actually went above and beyond what I expected. I'm talking with them now for two more jobs. I wish I could give more stars!"

"I can't say enough positive things about this group. They were punctual, professional, and showed great attention to detail. And they offered very competitive pricing to boot! They worked all day on my yard, eliminating and removing 2 large oak trees, an extremely tall hickory tree, 9 pine trees, and a "widow-maker" deciduous tree in 100 degree heat. My kids and I tried to bring them food, drinks, chairs, etc... , but we had to be EXTREMELY forceful for them to accept our offering. I'm very tight-fisted with money, but I opted to tip over $400 because of my appreciation and respect for the work they performed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It’s not always easy to tell when a tree is dying, although signs like dropping branches and brittle bark can sometimes offer clues. It can also be difficult to know whether a tree is dead or dormant, especially if it’s a deciduous tree. You’ll want to wait until a growth season to get a good idea of a tree’s health. When in doubt, contact an arborist for a consultation.

The average tree pruning should take one hour with the right equipment. Light pruning of a small tree may only take around 15 to 20 minutes. Pruning multiple large trees in your yard will probably take several hours, including cleanup. However, tree pruning pros can do this job much faster, so you can rely on pros if you’re short on time.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

Your neighbor is not in a good position to know if your trees are truly dead or pose any kind of danger. That’s why hiring an arborist or tree service expert can be such an important part of the process. If the trees are still alive and don’t pose any threat, you’re in the clear (but you may want to document and photograph everything in case events turn sour down the road).

But if a tree is visibly dead and near the property line, you should remove it to be safe. If a dead tree falls on a neighbor’s property, they may have grounds to sue for negligence. If any branches on trees have died, it’s a good idea to cut them back for similar reasons.

Many species, especially when well-established, are not fans of transplantation. You’ll need to decide if you want to risk splashing the cash, understanding that transplantation isn’t always successful. Again, this is where hiring a pro is helpful, as they can give you all the essential info you need to ensure your tree stands a fighting chance.
