Also do new plumbing throughout the house. He expected my daughter to remove the ceilings to get at the plumbing between the floors and she had to remove a ceiling in another room so he could put a vent in for a fan. The local supply store would not give him credit for the supplies so we had to charge the supplies to our account. We took the trash to the landfill (to the tune of over $150). He asked for $4,000 down payment and the next week for $2,000 more. He told her initially the job would be done in 2 weeks. Then he said he could sheetrock the upstairs bathroom but it would cost an extra $2,000. When I asked how come he didn't do the initial clean up and taking stuff to the landfill he said that it would have cost her extra. I said he had not mentioned that in his price. He said he did and I said there were 3 of us that heard him and he did not. He and his assistant took 5 and 1/2 weeks to complete the job and never worked a full week and only 5-6 hours per day. Also, my daughter went without a toilet for 2-3 days and she was lucky that we only live 2 doors down and she stayed here during the day to run her daycare.. They were also without water several times. The second time he told her she would have to be without a toilet overnight she told him no and he was very upset. Then he asked me for $2,000 more and I said no he couldn't have any more money until the job was finished. Needless to say he hurried, did a terrible job. Hung a medicine cabinet and drilled 3 holes in the middle and filled them with putty, after trying to find a 2x4, the upstairs toilet leaks both from the tank and from the seal. When he installed the lineoleum in both bathrooms, he cut too far into the doorways and she only noticed that the following day. When I finally did give him a check I only gave him enough to cover up to $10,000 and gave him a copy of the bill for the supplies. He was very upset and said that I was supposed to buy those supplies and also pay for his supplies which he purchased elsewhere and gave me copies. I had asked him for copies of any bills he had. In hindsight, my daughter did not get anything in writing and should have. He told me his lawyer would be contacting me and I told him that was fine because my lawyer would be talking to his! Also, I questioned the electrician that he chose for the job and he said he was a good one. He made several goofs and I am calling him tomorrow to let him know that he has to redo some wiring that he just put up under 2x8s and didn't drill through them.and we need that done before we can put more sheetrock up. I certainly would not recommend him to anyone. We had 6 wooden dining room chairs which were my grandmother's (so at least 60 years old, as she died at 90ish); wooden backs, seats worn through and what appeared to be kapok stuffing falling out here and there. Not particularly good quality chairs I don't think, but of sentimental value to me. We also had another, nonmatching wooden chair which I wanted reupholstered in a matching fabric. All had dings and scratches and occasional loose joints, and we had put sticky felt on the bottoms of the legs to avoid scratching our dining room floor. I telephoned to ask if he could do the job, phone was answered promptly and pleasantly by Mr. Hayden himself, appt made for us to bring chairs to him the following day (a Saturday in early June 2013). I did not have upholstery cloth picked out, he said fine to get it elsewhere (he could tell us how much needed after seeing chairs) or he had some we could look at. Address he wanted chairs brought to was different from that listed as Havenhouse Upholstery on Google (it appears on Google as Havenhouse all one word); appeared to be his home when we got there. He had a furniture-filled workshop in his back garage which is where we dropped off the chairs; he had about a dozen different rolls of upholstery cloth of different patterns/fabrics in the back of his minivan and we chose one we liked from that selection (I am perfectly happy with what we chose, but do not consider myself a picky shopper in matters of style -- durability and stain resistance more important as we have kids, and he recommended some of what he brought as more durable than other fabrics, we chose from those). Estimate was $575 for reseating/upholstery/stain guarding and $200 for repairs to chairs (he said refinishing was not recommended for chairs like these, and that was not our focus anyway), paid by check $250 deposit. He said it would take several weeks. Late June I called to check and let him know we would be unreachable for a week, he said he was almost done. As arranged he called me after we returned to arrange pickup, appt made for next day. He stated repairs had been more extensive than estimated and would be an extra $75 (I made no quibbles). Place to pick up was another different address. I had to call to confirm address twice (trouble entering into GPS) but each time Mr. Hayden answered right away himself and was immediately helpful. and quot;Haven House Upholsteryand quot; or similar not seen on signage of building at that address when I arrived so I phoned; he drove to where I was (took 1 minute) and led me back to a storage unit containing a workspace and lots of furniture including our chairs. He helped me load up and I paid remainder by check to him personally, receiving receipt with both Haven House Upholstery and his name at the top which lays out work done nicely but does not include tax line (I have to assume sales tax was included in the price). Quality of the work: seats look great, very comfortable to sit on with good firm/soft balance for both me (short and fat) and husband (tall and thin), fabric fits tightly and is beautifully folded over corners and evenly trimmed underneath, a lot better than the original seats even before they wore through. The fabric we chose had a herringbone pattern which would show minor faults in alignment easily and this was perfectly aligned on each chair. Wood had greatly diminished ding/scratch appearance, still present (as expected) but have to look a lot harder to find them. Joints very stable now, no leaked glue visible (if he used glue; I didn't ask how he made repairs). Unasked, he had replaced the sticky felt pads under each chairleg with the same color and thickness we had used. Overall, I am very pleased with the work quality. Timing and what would and could not be done was all accurately explained in words I could understand. Cost was a bit more than original estimate but I believe the chairs deserved this as he hadn't tested the joints a lot before making his estimate, and this is not a visible problem. I had expected more of a storefront experience given the name and quot;Havenhouse Upholsteryand quot; but reaching and dealing with Mr. Hayden was easy at all times. My only concern is the lack of evidence of having paid sales tax on the receipt, which I did not notice until I got home. I would use him again if needed; he seems to be a real craftsman who cares about quality and that is well worth putting up with a slightly less-than-slick business demeanor. There were many days, even though the weather was good, that there was no one at site. Trash was left all around the building site and only now has been removed after numerous calls and emails. There were a number of issues with the design and we had to do a major change, that I had to approve, even though it resulted in a room which is marginally useful and a lot different from the plan. LCH also made changes without my approval, such as dropping the garage down from one step between the house and garage to three; and changing types of windows from awning to one sideways slider in the dining room-which looks ridiculous. I did agree to an unfinished area in the basement, but I didn't relaize that meant that wires, pipes, studs and insulation would be totally exposed. As we were going along, there were a number of change orders. Many of them resulting in a credit to my account because many things had to be upgraded from the bargain-basement products LCH was going to install. Last week I did finally get my certificate of occupancy-9 months after the foundation was poured. And LCH still has had a punchlist of items to complete, that is over one month old and remains incomplete. Calls and emails result in one workman coming over to complete one item on the list. This has resulted in many difficulties in my moving process, because I can't complete my move-in until I can unpack, which I can't do when the flooring (for example) is incomplete."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/morrisonville/lee-custom-homes-ii-reviews-2194645.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Ackermans Appliance","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Larry R."},"reviewBody":"Someone from Ackerman's came and picked up the units to take into their shop on 2/6/2009. Once in their shop, we assumed that they would inspect and access the necessary work to repair the appliances. They just started working on them without providing any time or cost estimate or even to tell us what was wrong. After about a week, I was told that the 2-drawer refrigerator was repaired but they were still working on the ice maker. I had asked if they could at least deliver the refrigerator and was told that they can not (or would not) deliver them separately. As months went on, I would call with regular frequency to find out the status only to be told that someone would call me back later. Of the two dozen times I called over the almost 6 months they had the appliances, only 2 phone calls were ever returned. Eventually, I called one Friday at 4:30 p.m. and got an answering machine telling me that they were closed and their hours were Monday through Friday, 8-5. I left a scathing message saying that I was fed up with the lack of returned phone calls and information and insisted that someone call me back the following Monday. As expected, Monday came and went without a phone call. Finally on Tuesday, someone called me to tell me that they appliances were fixed and ready to be installed and that someone would call me Wednesday or Thursday to set up a time to install them as well as give me a cost. As expected, no phone call was ever received. We didn't know when they were going to arrive on Friday as they never called to let us know and after re-installing all the appliances, demanded to be paid on the spot for an amount we had no idea what was going to be. Luckily we had the money to do so, but if you don't happen to have a spare couple thousand dollars in your account when they show up, you might be in trouble. Absolutely horrible experience and torture to deal with."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/hudson/ackermans-appliance-reviews-2192563.htm"},"position":10}]}

I purchased an Angie's List Deal last year. On the initial visit, it turned out that our HVAC unit was in too small of a space for them to get their equipment in (it's located inside our small storage unit in the basement). They let me know that they could do the work, but that they would...

"It was a complex project. They were very careful with their procedures and raised sunken concrete sections next to the house and around a pool to allow for drainage. They filled the major cracks. They were courteous and on-time over several days. After many years the water in the basement problem has been resolved."

FAQs for basement leak repair projects in Tupper Lake, NY
The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.
For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.
The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.
If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.
Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.
Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
