"On the hottest day of the year our Central A/C went out. The interior temperature in the house was over 90 degrees.... I called one of the better known companies in the area and they came out looked at the unit for just a few minutes, said the condenser was shot and could not be repaired - they then sent somebody over to give me an estimate for a new A/C system and gave a quote of thousands of dollars. Despite the heat, before jumping into such a big purchase, I wanted a second opinion.... I went to HomeAdvisor for a referral. Within 10 minutes of my HomeAdvisor inquiry I received a call from Kevin of KN. I explained the situation and he said he’d be over in a couple of hours. When he arrived he took the entire u it apart, I told him what the tech from the better known company told/showed me and Kevin began to diagnose the issue. He said the condenser could in fact be shot but he also suggested that the issue could simply have to do with the wiring to the condenser and started to look at that. Ultimately he was right about the wiring. The wire contact to the condenser had come off and that was why there was no power to the 7nitl. He went to his truck, got a new wire, installed it along with a new capacitor, reconnected the system and presto, with these relatively inexpensive parts the unit was up and running once again and as I write this the temperature in my house is a comfortable 73 degrees. The moral to this story is to stick with the small business owner — Kevin knows his trade, took the time to diagnose the issue, did not give up, is reasonably priced and did not try to up sell like the better known company did. I would gladly refer Kevin/KN to anybody who needs HVAC repair."
