M Johnson Contracting is a locally owned company specializing in remodels, additions, and custom builds to make your dream home a reality. Whatever the project, M Johnson Contracting has the skills, equipment, and experience to bring your dreams to life. Our passion is revitalizing tired spaces, restoring original beauty, and helping you fall in love with your home again.

"What started as a deck rebuild turned into a three season room addition. Matt and his crew were easy to work with, offered some great suggestions to us, and the finished room is more than we hoped for! We loved his suggestion of putting pine on the vaulted ceiling, and the finish work at the bottom on the outside looks great. Matt took care to match our 20 year old siding, and finish the windows and doors to exactly match the others on the house."

Pete the Plumber is loyal to the capital region where he proudly lives with his family. He is dedicated to providing quality workmanship at affordable pricing. For over 20 years, Pete has prided himself on repeat customers. His clients trust his judgment and are satisfied with his prompt, efficient service. His professional, knowledgeable, highly-trained staff promises to respond to any and all calls, day or night. He will go out when other companies are sleeping.

"We hired Pete the plumber in 2018 for a toilet clog. He charged us close to $400 dollars for removing the toilet and running the snake through. Fast forward until now we have the same issue. When I called I wanted to double check the price. He said $275. When I mentioned my previous experience with him over the phone he claimed that was not him that he never charges that much money. When he came over i showed him the receipt he gave me in 2018. He said he charged me that much money cause he had to remove the toilet bowl and walked right out not even having the decency to ask how can he help. Would I hire him again? Absolutely NOT! Would I recommend him? NO!!!!"

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Astar Heating & A/C Inc is a customer focused heating and air conditioning company that was originally started in 1976. Located in Middletown, NY, we employ highly trained people whose goal is to make our company the best service company in Orange County New York. Our company specializes in designing, engineering, and installing complete comfort systems for owners of existing homes and buildings just like yours. We take special pride in the craftsmen we train and employ a fact you'll notice immediately in the attitude and integrity they bring to your job site. Our entire company works hard to make your experience with us hassle-free and enjoyable. From the professionalism of our sales engineers, to the dedication of our field personnel, we are dedicated to delivering you the best. We take our responsibility very seriously when you place your trust in us. Additional DBA - Astar Heating & Air, LLC Additional email - [email protected] Additional phone - (845) 692-4858.

"Astar: S#!tshow Incorporated An absolute catastrophe from the moment I sent them money until they finally got their act together to finish the project four and a half months later (with mediocre results at best). Their ability to communicate was abysmal and they utterly failed to take any sort of meaningful responsibility several times over. They proved unable to track information both internally and especially coming from me (even by email!) and in the end seem not to have much of an understanding of the products they sell. The trouble initially arose from their failure to note the several times I told them I was in Putnam rather than Dutchess county. It turns out they're not licensed to work in Putnam, but rather than doing the right thing and telling me that so that we could find a solution, they gave me nebulous excuses about how there was a snag with the electrical permit and that it was going to take a little more time. They were quick to get some things installed (probably so I couldn't walk away from the contract if I learned what was really going on), but then were unresponsive and would only give me a runaround on when things would happen and never answered my questions fully. This issue almost screwed me out of a rebate as I had to tell them several times that I'm with NYSEG instead of Central Hudson before they got it right. Their initial timing estimate left me with the choice of shlepping diesel for a few weeks to keep my hot water running or dealing with 100+ gallons of fuel oil when the job was done, so I went with the former. That would've been easy if it had hit their early target of two weeks and a reasonable but manageable hassle at their late target of six. They left me cold for three unexpected months (Jan-Apr) during which I spent many hours and hundreds of dollars on diesel, firewood, and electric heaters (not to mention an astronomical electric bill). In compensation they took roughly $1200 off my $43000 bill, which feels about like getting a dollar tip on a $20 check. Along the way, there were other issues (such as their plan to leave the boiler "as a backup" for me to deal with despite my having told their sales rep point blank that my whole aim was to remove the boiler). The quality of work was OK, but by no means great. The vents they use are absurdly cheap, don't really open & close properly, and the control knob frequently comes out when I try to operate them. Information from the installation planning meeting was either ignored or changed on the fly but their technicians, and one of their guys gouged my mechanical room door while removing the old boiler tank (which would've been easily avoided with the extra minute's work to put a blanket over it) & didn't so much as apologize for it. On top of it all, I'm still finding trash from the job around my property. Finally, their design of the system doesn't allow different rooms to run different functions; an issue I never would have accepted if I'd known. (for what it's worth, that seemed a surprise to the technician who came back to address the non-functioning thermostat they initially left me with). Also: upon the end their last scheduled install day, and with zero warning that this was going to happen, the installer demanded that I pay the remaining $23000 balance right then and there as though everyone simply has that amount of cash in their checking account or available on their credit card at all times and would not leave until I put half on a card, only accepting the half payment because I could name issues they still needed to come back and fix. Jason, the rep that sold me the system in the first place was kind, courteous, and gave me lots of faith in that company. I don't believe that was misleading me intentionally, but I deeply wish that they'd sent someone less likable and more reflective of the way their company actually operates. They sell an image of professionalism that absolutely misrepresents them as a company. Listen to the complaints about their outlandish pricing and terrible service. Jason told me that Yelp offered to scrub the bad reviews for them for an exorbitant amount of money and to trust the other sites, but I can only conclude that it's a lot cheaper to manage your brand image on Angi and other, less ubiquitous review sites."

Bourque Mechanical is family owned & operated since 1986!Our main gaol is to be honest with the customer..Give us a call for an estimate, for service or for a question and we will be happy to help you out! Award winning.

"Bourque service representatives are always prompt, efficient, careful to clean up and knowledgeable. i just had the most wonderful experience with Bourque Mechanical My Furnace People. and Shane Flint, owner.  On a Sunday, this long term customer  sent an email inquiry about my air conditioning unit not cooling; Shane not only answered my email  on a Sunday but came in person to check on Monday.  Shane checked everything, even told me how to order the filters online and replace them myself. After inspecting the furnace and all the vents indoors, turns out  the AC unit still works - "someone " had opened the outside switch cover pulled out the throttle handle and turned it off. i would love to have taken fingerprints !!!!! Didn't need a new AC unit -- my very lucky day. Plus, Shane  is an authority on the new frontier of mini splits and an experienced installer as I look to the future technology.--"

At Wilson Bros Heating, Cooling and Plumbing you will always get more than you pay for and our honest upfront pricing program always gives you affordable options. We believe delivering friendly, honest, quality service is the smartest strategy for growing our business. We won’t waste your time telling you how great we are, and how long we have been in business, and all the other same old boring stuff. Plain and simple, we have been around a long time; we are honest, friendly, fast and professional.

"I called, left a message (since it was after hours). I got a call back within half an hour. They dispatched someone who showed up within an hour and fixed the A/C (capacitor was blown). We were happy to have it work again as the weekend was supposed to be a record temperature wise. I have been a customer for several years, had furnace and hot water heater installed by them and get regular service for furnace and A/C. Always great service. I highly recommend the company."

We pride ourselves on delivering unbeatable customer service. Our staff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly and treats every job or project, no matter the size, with the “Red Carpet Treatment” it deserves. We strive to accommodate YOUR schedule, understanding that time is one of your most valuable assets.

"We were initially impressed with the salesperson and went with Crisafulli for that reason despite their proposal being more expensive than other providers. Soon after the installation started though, so did our disappointment. The project was poorly planned, ultimately taking over a month (initial estimate 2 days) due to careless project management on their part. They also tacked on charges we were initially told would not be included and failed to resolve the issues we had with poor installation quality. If you go with Crisafulli, which I do not recommend, make sure you have a detailed SOW and can verify the work being performed."

We've called Albany its home for close to 100 years! We know this town, its people and its homes. We are unique -an older community with specific needs when it comes to heating and cooling. We appreciate the tradition and history of Albany’s older homes. But just because our residences come from the era of the model T, doesn’t mean they have to run like one. Over time, we have become the experts in making sure an older home is running at peak efficiency when it comes to energy consumption. In order to properly diagnose your home’s needs, Farrell Brothers needs to look at its infrastructure, its duct work and air flow, insulation, windows and doors. All these things come into play when heating and cooling an older home. The biggest and best piece of equipment doesn’t always serve an Albany residence in the same way it would a brand new home.

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

While many older homes don’t need hot water heater expansion tanks, they’re necessary in most newer homes and are required by building codes. These tanks are required by code in areas where there are backflow preventers or pressure regulators on the incoming water pipe between the public water pipes and the water heater. However, tankless water heaters don’t require expansion tanks.

You can and should vent the gas from your hot water heater to the outside of your home. Traditionally, these gases were vented back to other gas appliances, like stoves or furnaces, but many jurisdictions have outlawed this practice due to the risks it provides.

Most water heaters today use atmospheric venting that exhausts the gas out of the home through a pipe.

Converting a gas water heater to an electric one can cost between $870 and $4,100, depending on the installation scope, plumbing and electrical needs, and the water heater model. However, it’s always better to contact a local pro for a more accurate quote. Also, since natural gas is cheaper than electricity in most regions, you should prepare yourself for a higher monthly cost after the initial conversion.

A larger heater requires a larger breaker—unless there’s one already installed. The longer answer to this question is more nuanced. Do you place demands on the heater at the same time as running other heavy-duty appliances like ovens and washing machines? Do you live in an older home that may not have considered the higher electrical demands we have now? Breakers need to be sized at 125% of the load. To find that load, you should call a local electrical pro.

Signs your water heater is about to fail include: a unit older than ten years, rust water coming from your faucets, banging and rumbling noises when you call for hot water, and leaks coming from the tank. You might also notice a foul odor when you turn on your hot water, akin to rotten eggs or sulfur. Of course, your water heater might also need replacement if your water doesn’t stay hot or takes longer to heat up.
