"Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. "Hired Duffy?s to repair and paint sheet rock damaged by water leaks and several stress cracks around door frames. Darren, responded to our request and promptly provided a detailed quote. Work started and was completed on schedule. Darren explained exactly what he would do and lived up to it. could not be more pleased with how things turned out. He even addressed an issue with our ceiling joists with arose unexpectedly. He was a complete professional. Would definitely hire Duffy again for any future projects."

"We hired Austin Renovation Corp to repair our home outdoor Deck.Tyerone and his team did an amazing job, they replaced all the damaged wood railings for trex railings and Tyerone was Kind enough to save me money on the project by letting me know that my deck floor that is composite was still good enough to not replace it. He reinforced the floor replaced bolts and metal brackets, he had someone power washed the floor and painted it. He also installed a new hard top gazebo that I had ordered. My wife and I are very pleased with the job done. Tyerone was very professional and reliable. Looking forward to next project."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

To calculate the number of linear feet of baseboard you’ll need, measure the length of each wall of the room you’re installing them in as close to the floor as possible, rounding up to the next full linear foot. If it’s your first DIY molding job, having a few extra feet on hand for miscuts is a good idea.
