"Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. "Working with Mark has been absolutely terrific start to finish. A perfectionist and really an artist in wood, every single part of this job to the smallest detail was done with exquisite care. Also, Mark is an extraordinarily articulate person and explains every detail and every decision to make as he proceeds. We replaced old and cheap molding with beautiful architectural molding and trim and it is not an exaggeration to say that he transformed the look of the house with his work. Knowledgeable, exacting, extremely skilled, a pleasure to have in the house working, very highly recommended."

"Hired Duffy?s to repair and paint sheet rock damaged by water leaks and several stress cracks around door frames. Darren, responded to our request and promptly provided a detailed quote. Work started and was completed on schedule. Darren explained exactly what he would do and lived up to it. could not be more pleased with how things turned out. He even addressed an issue with our ceiling joists with arose unexpectedly. He was a complete professional. Would definitely hire Duffy again for any future projects."

Small jobs welcome

"WF Carpentry (Wes Fogg) recently completed a project to upgrade an outside staircase. The project was completed on budget and on time. I am very satisfied with the results and impressed with Mr. Fogg’s work ethic, attention to detail and craftmanship. Throughout the project Mr. Fogg made recommendations to enhance the design, durability and aesthetics of the staircase. I will gladly provide references and hire WF Carpentry on future projects. Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.
