"Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. "Owner responded immediately. That is rare for this area! Work estimate was very next day. Work completed FULLY the very next day! I have had nothing but bad luck with all the lazy tradesmen in my area. Alecks is now going to get any future work I need. His helpers Billy and Jason were friendly and enjoy their work. AMV is a breath of fresh air. If you don't use them now, you are making a major mistake. Thank you Angie's list and thank you Alecks and your AMV team. Normally I only write negative reviews. AMV construction deserve this very positive recommendation. Clifford Teich, M.D."

"Tim did an excellent job of replacing main beams in living room and bedroom. Tim and his team did an excellent job of moving all my belongings so they could do the work. The work they did I could never have done as neatly myself. Along the way Tim kept me informed as to what was happening in words I could understand. He also connected me with painters etc who could help finish the job. It is almost impossible to see the areas Tim worked on, the finishing work was so meticulous. I would highly recommend Tim And Diggs Building Technologies for any structural work . He deserves 5 stars."

"My wife and I are very particular and meticulous. Jose does absolute pristine work. We had him build and install custom shelving for our new house and the final product was better than we could ever have imagined. We would recommend him and we wonâ t use anyone else in future for carpentry needs."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

By careful planning and reinforcement to maintain structural integrity.

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.
