"Our siding was beginning to warp and fall off. Got in touch with owner Jim and he did an assessment of the total outside. First he was going to repair damaged sidings. He later said that he would not be able to match color. He also advised us that it would be more economical to tear off down to frame and install new vinyl and insulation. He quoted us a repair and replace pricing. We decided, with his professional knowledge to tear and replace. His workers was intelligent, Knowledge and kept us informed all through out the job. With the weather not favorable, they completed the job in two days We are well ratified with the company. The owner and works are customer orient and work hard to satify costumer. Would use the company again because of their professionalism, knowledge and concern for homeowner. Yes,we will use them again."

"E & M Total Homes is an up and coming company that installed a stamped patio for us. Sean was on top of direct communication with me regarding this project. Blake Michael construction (soon to be known as OMR Home Remodeling llc) is a company I started after spending many years in the construction world to truly help my customers live in the home they have always dreamed of. The love for this came from my grandfather who also did home remodels and always brought me along with him to his projects. I saw his passion changes people’s homes and that always struck with me! Take a look at some of the photos I have on here but also give me a call and we can set a time for a free estimate! 716-220-2828

"They didn't complete the Gazebo and the siding is crooked and you can see the cracks on it. Except not completing the gazebo roof. It needs to be screwed down because it flaps when the wind blows and that is how I found out."

For close to 30 years, Modern Window has been synonymous with premium, custom window solutions for Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania. When you add our ability to make yours a more eco-friendly home with the fact that we specialize in 100% American-made windows, it’s clear why this local, family-owned company has found success for so long. "I had Modern Window put in a very large window right in the front of my house, a window that changes the entire look. They use ProVia products which are made here in the USA. This is not a ProVia review as they are the only reason my sanity is remotely intact after this ordeal. I was PROMISED by my salesman a clean, finished look. I have gotten nothing but the opposite. After the install I contacted the company due to the attached pictures of the "finished" product which was embarrassing and just shy of dangerous to my house. The roof was built right over top of my existing siding and caulked on. The shingles were not the right color which they had blamed on supply chain issues (They went to home Depot the day of install for them. I ordered the window and install with detailed instructions months prior) flashing was wavy, uneven, and had large gaps. Great for a fresh hornets nest. The roof was FAR from centered. And they've all but destroyed my landscaping. Oh yeah. I almost forgot I couldn't open the brand new window because it touched the roof. "okay sir we will fix it" I was scheduled a month out for them to redo it. Fine. Companies are busy. I get it. Well today they came to redo it. The hole in my siding? Too small. The frame of the roof? Split at almost every corner due to them not predrilling. The J-channel to keep water out? Wavy and uneven. Then it started to rain and the installers left saying the office would call me shortly to schedule them to come back leaving two gaping holes in the bottom of the roof. I'm beyond angry at this point. How does a company like that get 4.8 stars? Regular windows? If you don't know how to do the job hire somebody that can. If your wondering too the job was just shy of $9000. That doesn't like like $9000 to me. Don't waste your money, go with anybody else. Even a stranger that says they can do it, at least then you'll get what you pay for. UPDATE 9/14 Forgot to mention during install they tried to leave a ROTTED sil for this behemoth window to rest on to save a buck. Attached picture. Today after having left this review and leaving an angry E-Mail to the GM I was sent out a two man crew to "rectify" the issue. Rick, the owner had a conversation with me about what was expected and I told him the solution to the problem is to remove the overhang, cut the siding down larger, and replace the overhang adding J-channel for a clean, watertight, finished look. He told me that's not an option and instead we would have to figure out another solution. God bless Adam and Brandon for all of their hard work today making it to where at least now it looks like a professional FIXED a botched job. Granted I am still going to have to remove the overhang to reside my house and we had to get quite creative with the caulk, but hey. Now I won't get laughed at by my neighbors and it will keep the expensive new window dry for now. When the guys finished the mcgivered fix to an awful situation I had a conversation with Rick and he wanted to know if I was satisfied. I explained to him that I am not and for me to be satisfied the roof would have to had been redone to the correct size and J-channel flush all the way around. He said he's sorry and instead insulted me with a gift card for my wife and I to go to dinner. A gift card for those who don't know won't keep my window watertight or help me to not redo all their hard work when I need to redo my siding. Anyhow he asked that I take down this review. I will not, I do NOT recommend Modern Window to ANYONE. Especially not someone who won't babysit the guys and might look at a botched job and think it's all okay. It's all fun and games until it's raining inside after all. At this point I'm considering legal action for Deceit, Fraud, and Defective Construction Work as I know for a fact the framing is cracked, splitting, not flush to the wall, and I'm pretty sure the ONLY thing holding the weight of the window. Pretty sure bribery is frowned upon too. FIND ANOTHER CONTRACTOR!!!"

Turner is a Professional Engineering Firm. Often the home owner or buyer needs an Engineering Report on the home. Sometimes its need is generated by bank appraiser from the future lender or a home inspection. Our report can cover: Structural issues, basement walls, crawl space, the new code for 2nd exit for basement, roof, electrical, mechanical and site reports. Should the homeowner want to remodel, we can design which is needed for a building permit Call 716)839-4020 or [email protected] for more information.

"He was extremely punctual, professional and very knowledgeable. He explained what everything was, how to fix some small trouble areas and answered all of our questions very pleased with his service and would absolutely use him again!"

"My mother, who is not computer savvy, wanted me to write a review. She could have not been more happy with the job! She was amazed with the tech, Austin, and the speed and quality of his work. He was very professional and friendly. As her son, I am constantly looking out for her wellbeing. I want to thank Austin for making my mother feel at ease. Unfortunately we live is a world surrounded by opportunists, it's great to find a company and an employee that do quality work at a reasonable price when they as they will! Thanks so much Kathy in Ransomville, NY"

FAQs for basement remodel projects in Sloan, NY

Unless you have extensive experience in construction work, remodeling a basement is best left to a professional. There are several tasks associated with this project that require exact precision, including:

  • Replacing insulation

  • Replacing carpet or other flooring

  • Adding heating and cooling

  • Adjusting or adding walls and doors

  • Altering or adding plumbing elements

If any of these elements is done incorrectly, it could severely impact the quality of your basement remodel and be dangerous. Changing a basement often comes with code safety requirements, like egress windows and proper ventilation. Therefore, leaving it up to a professional is often the best decision.

The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.

For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.

The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.

If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.

Since DIYing a basement remodel isn't typically advised, there are some ways that you can still save money on this project without putting yourself in danger. Some ways to save money on a basement remodel include:

  • Painting walls yourself versus including in the cost of the remodel

  • Installing light fixtures yourself

  • Choosing prefabricated fixtures, like cabinets, over custom ones

  • Choosing a budget-friendly flooring option, like laminate or vinyl flooring, and add rugs where necessary

Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.

Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.

Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
