If a large truck passes your house or there is construction in the area, your house may feel like it’s moving, but it will be short-lived and not a sign of a larger issue.

It’s okay to buy a house with knob and tube wiring if it’s safe, functional, and still in good condition as well as a minimum of 60 amps. However, a professional should conduct an electrical inspection of the knob and tube wiring to ensure it’s up to code as well as safe and functional. However, the usual 60-amp service boxes can’t handle electricity from 100-amp breakers, making it difficult or impossible to power modern devices.

There are no strict rules for who is responsible for covering repair costs after a home inspection, but major issues with the home often result in a renegotiation. The seller may agree to lower the price to compensate for the cost of the repairs to the buyer, or the seller may agree to fix the repairs before the sale is complete.

Part of a pre-drywall inspector’s job is ensuring all work done on the home is up to code. If they discover anything that doesn’t comply, these fixes may be required by the local government or by the lender financing the build. Aside from these mandatory post-inspection home repairs, it’s technically optional to make any other repairs—though it’s a good idea to remain proactive about them to avoid a bigger issue in the future.
