"The owner, Eddie, was a pleasure to work with, as he was knowledgeable, and clear and upfront about the project and cost. He walked us through all the steps and provided references. It took several weeks for the project to start waiting for the Anderson windows to arrive after they were ordered, but when they did arrive, the project was scheduled and commenced within a couple of weeks. The crew for the project were efficient, skilled, and hard-working. In particular, the foreman for the crew, Milton, kept us informed during the project, explained the steps and the process, and generally kept everything on track. One important note is that the internal trim and windows sills needed to match windows that were installed years ago during a renovations and expansion of one part of the house. The sills were custom, not off the shelf, and the team did a great of job of producing them to match. Everything was cleaned up and extraneous material removed at the end of the project."

Leather and Vinyl Repair questions, answered by experts

If you have mold under your vinyl flooring, it’s recommended that you have it ripped out and start fresh. Mold isn’t something to take lightly and should involve a visit from a professional who can both test and identify the mold. If you’re determined to remedy it yourself, wear all the proper protective equipment—eye goggles, a high N-rated mask, and long, disposable gloves.

As you look for quotes for flooring repair, consider how the severity of the problem and the accessibility of the damage will impact your costs and budget.

Refinishing a few hardwood planks with minor scratches will cost thousands of dollars less than completely replacing an entire water-damaged floor. Likewise, a first-floor structural problem in a house with an unfinished basement is easy to access from below, while a similar issue on a second-story floor will require your flooring pro to remove several layers to get to the damage.

Although it isn’t recommended to use more than 1,500 pounds of force per square inch (or PSI) on delicate siding materials like wood and metal, it’s safe to use more than that on surfaces made of stone, cement, and, yes, vinyl. In most cases, you can use up to 3,500 PSI without any problems, though you’ll want to make sure to use a tip with a spray span that better disperses this pressure, like a green or yellow tip.

If you are ready to work on replacing floorboards but discover that your hardwood floor type has been discontinued, there are some options. You can get a piece of unfinished wood in the same wood type and thickness and stain it yourself. Also, consider contacting the manufacturer to see what similar products they may have in their product line that may work for you. Otherwise, you can contact a speciality company to customize exactly what you need.

It depends on the reason for the sagging floors, but since sagging floors are usually a sign of foundation damage that you could have avoided, chances are your homeowners insurance policy will not cover the necessary repairs. Not only that, but your provider likely won’t cover the actual foundation damage that is causing the issue either, as it’s considered an avoidable type of damage, and negligence isn’t covered by most insurers.
