I went in for an inspection September 2014 and they informed me that my tires wouldn't pass. On their recommendation, I purchased four Hankook tires. Because they do not take appointments and all work is first come, first serve, I was there from ~9 AM until almost 1:30 PM waiting.
In February 2015, the front right tire blew out when my car dipped off the edge of the pavement at fairly low speed (~35-40 mph). The side wall had failed. I brought the tire in the next morning. This time I arrived shortly before the opening at 8; I was there until after 11. They replaced the tire without charge under the warrantee.
In May the same tire, front right, blew out again under the same conditions. This time I made arrangements to leave the car for the day. When they inspected the tire, they informed me that it was no longer under warrantee. Unbeknownst to me, in February they had also rotated the tires, so the tire that was on the front right in May was not the replacement from February, but one of the original tires from September. Because it had been 8 months, the tread had worn down beyond the warrantee. I questioned why the same tire location fail twice and they dismissed it as a freak accident and asserted that they have never heard of problems with these tires. I had to purchase another replacement.
I subsequently learned that the previous model of these tires had been recalled and many of the models, including mine, have complaints about sidewall failure. I am now very cautious about driving on uneven surfaces and will be replacing these tires as soon as I can afford to do so. I will not be returning to Van Kleeck's.
I went to the shop as scheduled, the people were very nice, the environment was ok, it is a garage after all....and coffee was fine
and free, and the whole thing took much less time than estimated.
The sales people were courteous, the ladies in waiting very polite, and they even sent a card a week later to thank me for my purchase.
Before choosing them I did all sorts of research on the web, and by phone in my immediate area, and they had the best price for
the type of tire and the type of driving we do.
The sales lady was truthful and candid and didn't try to sell me a more expensive tire, which I appreciated.
