Customers say: Quality work

"Mike was very prompt in following up on my initial inquiry and came out practically the next day to inspect the site in order to provide us with an estimate for a radon mitigation system. He walked us through the process and, from our perspective, provided a fair price for the service. The installation of the system was similarly promptly scheduled and completed. Mike and his brother were professional, friendly, and polite. They were careful to clean up the area afterwards. And the test results came back as we had hoped, with a significantly lower reading. We highly recommend this company!"

"Best price, best home inspection report I have ever seen (w/pictures), and knows his stuff. Did a radon test for us too and he worked hard to get our results under a time crunch. Very glad we went with him. Found a structural fault with the home deck and saved us some serious money. Thank you Schawn!!"

"I have 2 homes, I had one company put in machines, they didn't work. My Radon level was at 24, He came out immediately. They were clean, they didn't leave a mess and they put in a machine in both homes. They took care of the problem. I don't have anything bad to say about this company."

"We recently hired Patrick Sullivan after contacting another company for mold testing. He was very professional and overall nice guy. The other company we had contacted wanted to overkill on tests we did not need. We are currently in pending process of the sale of our home, which is why a mold test was needed. Upon home inspection, possible mold was found. The buyer wanted it tested and contacted Patrick to make sure he approved of him as well. Last but not least , Patrick went through the areas of house that were possible mold, spent time giving plenty of info. and was very helpful. Reasonable prices, knowledgeable, and professional."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

The fan that pulls the radon out of the air needs to run continuously, so you may see an increase in your electric bill once you install the mitigation system. Additionally, you may see an increase in your heating or cooling bills, as the fan can cause some loss of hot or cool air.

Many radon fans carry a five-year manufacturer's warranty. That said, your radon fan should last between five and ten years. Regular inspections will ensure the fan is operating properly. Unusual or exceptional noise coming from the fan or indications on your manometer or system monitor can immediately tell you that something is amiss.

Ideally, no one will live in a house with elevated radon levels, as prolonged exposure increases the risk of serious health issues like lung cancer. However, homes with radon can be made safe through mitigation systems, such as active soil depressurization. Testing for radon regularly and addressing high levels helps ensure a safe living environment.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.
