Small jobs welcome

"I hired Butler's Home Services for an electric panel upgrade from 100A to 200A. He corrected bad wiring, coordinated with National Grid to upgrade the main service line to a lower gauge, and identified low voltage conditions, working with National Grid to resolve them. He was professional, punctual, and efficient. I highly recommend him."

"My house generator was serviced and the battery replaced. Everything about the experience was excellent. Mike, the technician, called when he was on the way, worked with me and my restrictions because of Covid, he was punctual, professional, explained thoroughly the work he did. For 8 years Anderson has serviced my generator and when needed during electric outage, my generator keeps my house running until the electric service is restored! Thank you for reliable service!"

"1) Quality: During his first visit Court began with a careful examination of our house and the pond that now provides heat in winter and air conditioning in summer. He walked through the basement examining the current installations and then came to the dining room to discuss his ideas. He had a large volume of pictures from many previous geothermal installations, some very much like ours. There is a quiet professionalism to Court that is so much better than salesmanship. His final design includes extra protections, and elegant features. For instance, this winter the furnace heats all our domestic hot water with otherwise wasted heat generated by the compressor. The house remains quietly at our set temperature regardless of the weather outside, hot or cold. 2) Customer Service: Court is always available on email or phone when I have questions. He and his partner came to tweak the system last week and spent time carefully correcting all the many adjustments available on a geothermal installation. 3) Value for money: I don't know what other firms would charge. Court has emphasized all along the federal tax rebates and electric company rebate, the services that will automatically arrive because of this system. He accurately predicted the overall savings this system brings compared to our oil and coal furnaces. I was amazed in the end how reasonable our total bill was for such a large installation. 4) Overall Impression: Court and his partner are professionals who know precisely what they are doing and get it done. I couldn't be happier with this heating-cooling pond-thermal system and the process that brought it to us."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When planning electrical projects in Rome, NY, consider the impact of heavy snowfall and aging housing stock, which may require electrical upgrades to meet current codes. High water tables in some neighborhoods can affect basement wiring. The limited pool of local contractors may influence scheduling, and local utility rates could affect decisions about heating or upgrades. Older areas may experience occasional power outages, so plan accordingly.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Rome, NY, keep a non-contact voltage tester, GFCI outlet tester, circuit breaker finder, and a basic multimeter on hand. Stock up on waterproof wire nuts, electrical tape, and weather-resistant outlet covers to handle Rome’s cold winters. Heat tape is useful for preventing ice dams. These tools and supplies help you manage routine maintenance and address issues specific to the local climate.

Helpful?

After finishing electrical projects in Rome, NY, promptly arrange a final inspection to confirm code compliance. Ensure all permits are properly closed and save copies of your inspection reports. Clearly relabel your electrical panel to reflect new circuits, and test all newly installed GFCI outlets monthly. Review any new safety features or upgrades with household members to keep everyone informed and comfortable with the changes.

Helpful?

When hiring for electrical projects in Rome, NY, confirm the contractor is locally registered and carries both liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Choose professionals experienced with Rome’s building codes and inspection process. Look for someone familiar with the unique needs of older homes and military housing. Since winters can be harsh, select a pro who plans around seasonal weather and understands local infrastructure challenges.

Helpful?

Begin by researching permit requirements for electrical projects in Rome, NY, and plan any necessary utility upgrades early. Schedule major work during milder months to avoid weather-related delays. For older homes, anticipate access challenges and order materials ahead, as local supply can be limited. Book inspections in advance and develop a backup plan for unexpected weather, ensuring your project stays on track.
