"As a realtor, I found Rich from Expedient Environmental Solutions while searching for a client who needed mold remediation. He and his crew did an excellent job at a fair price. They finished on time and left the home clean. So, when I was looking personally to have basement waterproofing (interior french drains and sump pump) along with radon mitigation, I received 3 quotes, of which theirs was the most comprehensive plan, and again not the highest quote overall. They finished the work ahead of schedule by bringing four workers the second day, were respectful throughout and left the area reasonably clean. I'm confident that my days (and nights!) with the shopvac and flooded basement are finally over, and grateful they stand behind their work for a full year. Good contractors are hard to find. Glad I found them. Thanks and I highly recommend!"

"I couldn’t be more impressed with this company. From start to finish, the level of professionalism, communication, and thoroughness was truly exceptional. John arrived on time, fully prepared, and immediately demonstrated an expert-level understanding of every system in the home. His attention to detail was remarkable—he didn’t rush, he didn’t cut corners, and he explained every finding in a clear, approachable way that made the entire process feel stress-free. One of the biggest standouts was the range of services offered. Having sewer camera inspections, chimney camera inspections, and a mold assessment available in one appointment saved me so much time and money. John used modern equipment, including a drone for the roof inspection, and provided high-resolution photos, videos, and an incredibly organized report. What really makes John special is the pride John takes in his work. It’s obvious he genuinely cares about protecting his clients and helping them make informed decisions."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon detection is crucial as prolonged exposure to radon gas, a leading cause of lung cancer, poses significant health risks in residential environments.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.
