You should plan to reseal the grout in your shower every one or two years, depending on how often your household uses the shower. Resealing shower grout costs around $200, but it will help extend the lifetime of your shower and freshen it up without having to go through the entire process of regrouting your tile shower. If you have a custom shower enclosure with grout between tiles on the floor, that grout should be resealed more often due to increased wear—once every six months might be necessary.

Your schedule for deep cleaning will depend on how often you clean regularly and how dirty your home gets. If you clean weekly and keep things tidy, you may only need to deep clean once a year. But if you don’t keep up with regular cleaning or have pets that drag in mud and shed all over the house, you might need deep cleaning two or three times a year.

After cleaning your grout, you should let it dry for at least 24 hours to make sure all of the moisture has evaporated before doing any resealing. Sealing your grout before it’s completely dry will lead to even more work because you’ll have to do it all over again. The sealant won’t stick to damp grout; it will just peel off.

Be sure to check the grout you use before you apply the grout sealer. Sometimes, grout doesn’t actually need sealer at all.

For the rest, apply one thin coat, clean up any excess mess, and let it sit for at least a full day. After a day has passed, go ahead and apply a second thin coat. Again, let that dry for another 24 hours.

Use a bristle brush and sealant with soapy water. Make sure to read the labels because some chemicals will ruin your floors.
