"My keys went missing during a bus trip to Darien Lake. I had NO idea what to do so I called AAA and they connected me to Infinity Lock and Key. When the service call came through to them Nick called me directly to verify what exactly I needed and then he provided an ETA that was spot on. He was helpful, professional and very reasonable. He made me 2 new keys and reprogrammed my backup key fob that hasn't worked properly for years. Nick did not drive a company vehicle with a logo on the side, but don’t let that fool you. This is a top rate company and I was VERY pleased with the service provided. "

Lubricating a door lock is an important part of door lock maintenance. It involves taking the lubricant of your choice (it’s best to use whatever the lock’s manufacturer suggests) and spraying it directly into the keyway. Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door. 

Lock bumping is a technique locksmiths use to quickly and quietly open a pin tumbler lock, typically found in most types of deadbolts. It involves inserting a specially crafted key, or bump key, into the lock and tapping or "bumping" it with a mallet or similar tool. The force applied causes the lock's pins to jump momentarily, allowing the lock to be turned and opened. Unfortunately, thieves also use this technique to break into homes. Luckily, products like a deadbolt strap will fortify your lock.

You should replace door locks when you move into a new home since you don’t know who has copies of the key. Other reasons to change your locks include an attempted break-in, when someone moves out of your home, or if you lose a key with an address attached to it.

If your door handle turns without opening, the most likely culprit is a loose or stripped spindle. This part connects the handles to the latch mechanism, and when it’s not properly engaged, turning the handle does nothing. Other issues might include a broken latch, loose screws, or even something small blocking an inner mechanism. In any case, it’s usually a matter of tightening, adjusting, or replacing a worn-out part inside the handle assembly—or calling in a professional to do it for you.
