"Joe, from Keuka sweeps, came on time with all the supplies he would need. He vacuumed up lots of dust and dirt....and mopped the floors after that. He cleaned the bathroom and kitchen beautifully. He was delightful to work with. Now our house looks so clean and smells great too."

"Jason did an excellent job from the beginning. He responded promptly, gave an accurate estimate, researched what needed to be done, got the necessary supplies, and got the job done. He was very personable and explained what and how he planned to remove the poison ivy, going above and beyond to ensure it was all removed, roots included. I'd highly recommend him."

"It was excellent. The work was superb. I couldn't have asked for a better job. They had to build a ramp unto the deck because I have a wheelchair. It was a tricky work and they did a great job. They thought of things that I didn't think of. They did a good job with the finer details. They did a good job with the landscaping too."

"I can’t say enough good things about Dakota and his team at Fresh Outlook Cleaning. I had a bit of a dilemma when my nephew couldn’t mow Mom and Dad’s grass anymore. I needed a service that would do a great job and be affordable for seniors on a tight budget. Well, Dakota reached out almost right away after I put the project on Angi. He talked to me about what his company offered and came back with very reasonable pricing. I decided to give them a try, and within a few days, he and his team showed up with their equipment to take care of Mom’s neglected yard. Wow, they cut through about an acre of grass in no time! They went the extra mile by not only raking but also cleaning up every last clipping. They even dropped them into at least 15 bags and carried them to the curb. The team was so polite and courteous to my parents. I highly recommend Fresh Outlook Cleaning to anyone looking for lawn services. They’ve done such great work, I’m already contracting them for more!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Disposing of old paint, bleach, oil, and fertilizer should be handled by a company that specializes in this kind of waste. Many private junk removal companies do not dispose of these items. Because these materials are hazardous to the environment and dangerous to handle or dispose of improperly, you should confirm with your local municipality about places to take hazardous materials for safe disposal.

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.

You may see specialty products for sale to remove lead dust, such as D-Lead surface wipes. But you do not need to buy a special cleaner just for lead dust. A regular all-purpose cleaner, like 409 or something similar, is sufficient for cleanup. Just make sure to follow the manufacturer's directions when using it and to dilute with water.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.
