"After past experiences with other local carpet cleaners, I had given up on having my carpets professionally cleaned. Other cleaners would be in and out of my house in less than 30 minutes. The carpet wouldn't be clean and would be so saturated that it took a week to dry. My carpet really needed a good cleaning and I decided to give it one more try and contacted Mike at Healthy Indoors Carpet. Mike was great. He is accommodating, punctual, considerate of my time, hardworking, and a true gentleman. I contacted him a week before Christmas for an estimate and asked if it could be done before Christmas. To my surprise, he said "yes". On the day of the job he phoned and texted me to let me know that he would be a little late. Now with most service people, this usually means that you get to cool your heels for a couple of hours. Mike arrived 10 minutes past our appointment! He started off by vacuuming the carpet. Then pretreated it before the cleaning. It was the coldest day of the winter and Mike took measures to seal if the door to minimize heat loss. Unfortunately, it was so cold that he had a problem with the lines freezing until the equipment warmed up. Needless to say, it took him a lot longer than expected to complete the job. Most contractors would have cut corners and rushed the job. Not Mike. He took his time and did the job properly. There was a high traffic area that needed a special cleaner that was not on the truck because of the freezing temperatures. Mike came back at a later date and took care of it. Because of the below freezing temperatures, water from the truck froze on my driveway. Mike asked if I had any salt and then salted the icey driveway. I was so pleased with the job that I recommended Mike to a friend that very afternoon. His attitude and professional is a breath of fresh air."

Couch Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

While an air conditioner can temporarily run with a dirty filter, it is not recommended as it will not work efficiently. A dirty filter forces the system to work harder to circulate cool air, leading to reduced airflow, increased wear and tear, and higher energy bills. This added strain can cause the air conditioner to overheat or fail prematurely. Furthermore, a clogged filter may allow dust and dirt to accumulate in your ductwork, negatively impacting air quality. It is more cost-effective to clean or replace filters regularly than to pay higher utility bills and risk needing to replace the entire AC unit.

Putting an air filter in backward can reduce airflow, which means your air conditioner has to work harder, putting a strain on your HVAC system. This can result in higher energy bills, premature repair, or even system replacement. Always check the manufacturer's guidelines to identify what is the front and back of the filter.

NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is not legally required for HVAC technicians in most areas, but hiring a professional with this certification is highly recommended. NATE-certified technicians demonstrated their expertise and proficiency in different types of HVAC systems, offering assurance of quality service. It's a voluntary certification, yet it indicates a commitment to professionalism and ongoing training. Choosing a NATE-certified technician often means you're working with someone who is up-to-date on industry standards and best practices, which can lead to better service, energy efficiency, and long-term cost savings.

The lifespan of a whole-house air purifier or filtration system depends on several factors, but with proper maintenance, they are built to last. A whole-house system that integrates with your home's ductwork can last 10 to 15 years, or even for the entire lifetime of your existing HVAC system. To maximize the unit's lifespan, perform regular cleanings, change filters as recommended, and schedule an annual inspection to catch potential issues early. The system's longevity also depends on its frequency of use and how hard it must work to maintain your desired air quality. For comparison, smaller, portable air filter systems typically last between five and ten years.

Air purifiers are meant to kill airborne mold, along with pollen and dirt. Air purifiers are a good option if you have allergies and need a whole-home solution, whereas dehumidifiers are best for naturally damp areas (like a bathroom). Consider getting an indoor air quality test to determine if an air purifier is right for you.
