"Woodchuck tree service was fantastic! Time is a precious commodity. I kept putting off pruning some trees and removing some dead and dying ones. After walking the property and talking with Woodchuck about my plans they made it happen that day. They trimmed the trees, cut and removed the dead dying trees. Stump grinding was important, mower blades won’t be destroyed. They cleaned up the yard where they worked before they left. Great service and price. I will hire again! Thank you woodchuck."

"Tree services went extremely well. Workers were not only polite and helpful but kept me updated on when they were coming and were accommodating when I asked for a few extra things to be done. Both my next door neighbors were so impressed they had them stop by to give them estimates and hired them too. As a bonus MigeI is a tree climber so no heavy equipment needed to tear up your lawn. They were also considerate and did not walk through my plantings but walked way around. I would highly recommend and will use them again."

"B&N Enterprises Nicholas (Nick) Freeborn did a great job. June 16 we had a storm 100 MPH winds our tree on peak of second story metal roof. Tree had to be lifted off which was done professionally and clean up was excellent and other damaged trees where taken down with no problem in a safe manor. Would have him do more work in the future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

A standard tree removal doesn’t include stump grinding. If you want your contractor to remove your tree and grind the stump, you must pay an extra charge. That said, you’ll likely save on the cost of stand-alone service—especially if it’s a small tree and they can finish both jobs in a single trip.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.
