"I hired MV Masonry to repair a block retaining wall. After speaking to Mike he advised me to build a new one. I received a few other quotes first but went with Mike because he truly seemed like the only honest person I spoke to and he didn’t cut any corners. I know the wall is going to hold up. Mike was incredibly responsive and is very knowledgeable about what he’s doing. He doesn’t just try to quickly smack on a finish coat and call it a day like most of these other contractors and call it a day. I highly recommend him. You don’t find people like him anymore!!"

"Jerry and his crew were professional and courteous. Power washed and sanded the trim to prep. They replaced several areas of trim and soffet that had rotted, matched it up to the existing good wood and with bondo, sanding, priming and painting, it all came out looking great. I thank them for a job well done."

"It went very well. Asm was very friendly and easy to work with. He took the time to patiently explain, in detail, the pros and cons of treatments to all aspects of the work that my very large, 3 story, 3 family and neglected building needed to bring it back to sound and attractive condition. Starting with the foundation which was painted brick, which is exposed on three sides of the house up to 9 feet high, he stripped all the old paint, repointed the mortar in many places and took out broken bricks and replaced them where needed. Next his workers got on ladders up to three stories high and power washed the entire building, scraped out and repaired all cracks in the traditional stucco and put on two coats of specialized water proof paint that would fill hairline cracks and he had that paint custom mixed to a color of my choice. His workers also did my detached garage and helped me out with damage done to the foundation from English Ivy gone wild. He did little extras for me also....replacing a piece of aluminum siding on a second story window that had fallen off some time before, that large crack in the garage foundation, replacing rotted out wood around the garage door. This job was done in two stages: three side of the house - back and two sides plus garage. Then they came back several months later after construction work was completed on a major 2 deck porch replacement to go through the same process for the front of the house. Finally, when Asm came back with his team I pointed out multiple places where I thought more repointing need to be done on the bricks. Without any trouble, Asm marked each spot I pointed out and the problem was taken care of. I have to say that I suffered from sticker shock at the cost of all this but the job was a difficult one and it was beautifully done, all the neighbors have given me compliments. I feel that Asm knows his business and I was in good hands. My house is now an asset in the neighborhood and I am proud of it. I would hire Hudson Contracting again without any trouble."

"Nick and team were extremely helpful, informative, responsive and did exactly what they said they were going to do (and even better when they said they were going to do it). Nick was very reachable via email and was more than willing to help. I hope to never need a foundation expert again, but if I do I know that I would definitely have them do the work."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.

Properly installed and maintained stucco can last 50 to 100 years, making it one of the longest-lasting siding materials available. This durable material is known for its durability, and as long as you clean and waterproof it regularly and promptly repair any damage, it’ll protect your home for decades to come.

Yes, you can apply the stucco yourself, but it is a time- and labor-intensive project, especially on the exterior of a whole house. DIY stucco is better suited for repairing stucco siding or siding a smaller building, such as a shed or garage. Since most of the cost of stucco siding goes to labor, you can cut down significantly on the total if you’re up for the challenge.

Cracks, discoloration, and moisture intrusion often indicate necessary repairs.

When cleaning stucco siding, it is recommended to use a pressure washer with a psi (pounds per square inch) between 1,500 and 2,000. This range provides sufficient power to remove dirt and grime without causing damage to the stucco surface. It's important to avoid using excessive psi as it can chip or crack the stucco.

Using a wider spray nozzle and keeping a safe distance of about seven to 10 feet from the siding helps ensure a gentle and effective cleaning process. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and adjust the psi accordingly based on the condition of your stucco and the specific requirements of your pressure washer.
