"Bob was helpful with all questions we had, gave us a quote that beat some other contractors, fit us into his schedule and did a great job. The fence looks great, the gates work perfectly and they cleaned up well after. We are very happy with the work."

"DeRisio did an outstanding job.  The quality of their work was excellent.  They were exceedingly professional- showed up everyday at 8 AM on the dot; worked a full day; left the work area and parts of the house they had to walk through completely clean (like they were never there); polite and friendly.  While the quote I got from them was a little bit higher than other contractors I am convinced that I would not have gotten anywhere near the level of service and quality of work they provided with anyone else.  Nick DeRisio popped by a few times to inspect the work as it was progressing, which I appreciated.  I was thrilled with them and would definitely hire them again to do major work in my home.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A fence gate can sag for several reasons. The issue often stems from the hardware, such as damaged or bent hinges, or loose screws that can no longer support the gate's weight. The gate frame itself might also have come out of square due to failing supports. Alternatively, the problem may not be the gate but the supporting fence post, which could be leaning or out of place. In many cases, fixing a sagging gate is as simple as tightening the hinge screws or upgrading to more robust hinges.

This depends mainly on how well the posts were installed and what type of wood was used to build the gate in the first place. Softwoods have a life expectancy of up to 15 years but can last slightly longer with regular maintenance and waterproofing treatments. By contrast, hardwoods can last up to 30 years with little care, so you may avoid costly replacements by spending a little more upfront.

If you have the time and the budget, we strongly recommend staining your fence, especially if it's looking a bit tired or hasn't been treated recently. While you may not see the same return on investment (ROI) as you would with a project like a kitchen remodel, staining a fence is one of the best ways to add a facelift to your property—a new fence stain adds serious curb appeal to your home.

Yes, finding compatible materials and finishes for seamless fixes.

A split rail fence is not typically considered among types of dog fencing. Many dogs are small enough to slip out between or under rails, and dangerous pests like coyotes can slip in. However, adding wire mesh to a split rail fence can add the security needed for dog safety without compromising the timeless look that makes the split rail style appealing.
