"My husband and I are very pleased with Sunset Roofing. We had the first phone call answered right away and an estimate scheduled the following day. They told us that their lead time to have the roof and gutters done was about 5 weeks and we did have the roof and gutters done 5 weeks after we had the estimate. They were able to get the roof completely done within 1 day and the gutters within half a day. Very efficient, professional, clean and courteous! Roof and gutters look great and so far no leaks!"

"ROC City Roofing team did an amazing job on my roof replacement. Vincent was professional & thorough through the quoting process. He inspected my roof, inside and out, giving me a detailed estimate with reasonable price. He called & communicated always as he promised. The ranch roof & some plywood replacement was completed in one day! The end result is a beautiful roof with warranty & quality materials. And no surprises. I highly recommend ROC City Roofing."

"Matt and his crew were great. Very professional. I got other quotes and Tall Pines was the best. I was really nervous about such a big project but Matt kept reassuring me everything was going to be fine. And he was right. I now have a beautiful new roof that I am very proud of."

"Jose and his crews did a great job in brutal temperatures. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a new roof. Our roof is a little difficult as we have channels between roof sections and that was done well using the singles to create the channels for the water to follow between roof sections. Also loves the Owens Corning amber color, no more black roofs as far as the eye can see."

"Pillo Construction, led by Matthew Pillo, absolutely exceeded our expectations when re-roofing our home. From the moment they arrived right on time to the final cleanup, their team was nothing short of outstanding. They were incredibly neat, professional, and clearly take great pride in their work. The quality of the job speaks for itself, and their pricing was more than fair for the level of craftsmanship we received. It’s rare to find a company that delivers this level of service from start to finish. We couldn’t be happier with the results and would recommend them without hesitation. If we could give more than five stars, we absolutely would. Truly an amazing experience!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before hiring.

The lifespan of an impact-resistant roof averages 30 to 50 years, depending on the quality of the shingles and the amount of wear and tear it endures. Some high-quality shingles may last even longer. For comparison, a standard asphalt roof lasts about 20 years, so choosing an impact-resistant option can increase your roof's lifespan by 50% or more, particularly in regions prone to extreme weather.

Yes, removing a chimney is a difficult and major undertaking. Chimneys often provide structural support to a home, so if it's a load-bearing structure, you'll need to take extra precautions to maintain your home's integrity. A project of this complexity typically requires a structural engineer, a masonry contractor, and a demolition crew. The removal process may involve taking the chimney out brick by brick from inside the walls. The cost for chimney removal can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the job's complexity. Due to the difficulty and cost, some homeowners opt to remove the fireplace and seal the chimney at the top and bottom, sometimes also removing the visible exterior portion at the roofline.

Roof raking can damage shingles if improperly done. Be sure to use a rake that’s designed specifically for removing snow from a roof, and don’t use excessive pressure. Light, consistent pressure to pull down the bulk of the snow is all that’s needed—if you clear right down to the shingles, you’re probably using too much force and risking roof damage.

If you live on the West Coast or anywhere with the threat of wildfires, you likely want to take steps to fireproof your home. Besides waterproofing and life span, rubber roofing also is noted for being fire resistant. Consult a professional roofer for details on what type of roofing would be best for you if fire resistance is a priority.
