"I recently went through a kitchen renovation and needed electrical work done. I chose Spirelli Electric and was extremely pleased with the whole process. From the initial call with Joe Spirelli, through working with office staff(Emily and Melanie), through the estimating process with Justin and the actual work being completed, I was pleased with all interactions with Spirelli Electrical. Everyone was professional, courteous, prompt and they left the job neat and broom swept. While the renovation work has been completed, I have additional electrical I tems I want to address and I will definitely be calling on Spirelli for the work. I have no problem recommending Spirelli Electric to friends and neighbors."

"Fast and super helpful. Gave me a proposal right away. Started work same week. If deviations were needed, was specific on what and why. Reasonable and fair pricing, and honest about their capabilities and areas of expertise. Professional team and went out the way to provide additional references for other concerns. I also appreciated the video Fabio took to show me the before and after, especially in areas I was unable to see."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

The amount of time a standby generator can run continuously is around 3,000 hours on average. However, standby generators can generally run indefinitely as long as they have a continuous fuel supply. Generators hooked up to a home’s natural gas supply are the best option for extended usage, as these won’t rely on a finite fuel supply based on how much you have in storage. Generators running on liquid propane or diesel won’t last as long, as these require fuel storage and regular refueling to stay running.

To power a central air system during a power outage, the whole-house generator will need to be at least 5,000 watts, and this number will significantly increase for larger units. Check the specific wattage requirements of your AC unit to choose the right generator size. Consider consulting a generator installer to ensure your whole-house generator meets your electrical load needs.

While natural gas generators are costly, they’re a great option for standby power due to the reliability of natural gas as a fuel source. Unlike other fuels, natural gas is delivered through underground pipes, making outages extremely rare and less likely to be affected by the elements. As long as the area isn’t prone to earthquakes, they offer an unlimited supply of natural gas that doesn’t degrade over time or require storage in tanks.

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.

Generators are safe to use as long as they are installed and operated correctly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The most critical safety tips are to never use a portable or fuel-powered generator inside an enclosed space due to the risk of lethal carbon monoxide poisoning; always operate it outdoors where fumes can dissipate away from your home. Additionally, never attempt to connect a generator to your home’s electrical panel yourself—hire a professional to ensure the setup meets safety standards. Finally, avoid overloading the generator by not connecting more appliances than it is rated for, as this can damage your equipment or cause a fire.
