He came back the next day to replace the pump and found that there was a further problem that could not be detected the day before. It turned out to be the computer board which would have cost more than most new dishwashers. He suggested that we just buy a new dishwasher and forego the repair. He only charged us the $75 Service Call even though he was there two days in a row for at least an hour each time.
