"In researching the cost of a new driveway, I spoke with ten different companies and was given ten different estimates, each of which sits piled on the corner of my desk. The range of cost, time needed, comparative customer satisfaction ratings and other variables was incredible and all for the same job. Only James at Advanced Driveways and Patios stepped in with a series of suggestions that spoke to my concerns, as well as the expedient and professional execution of the job at hand. Lastly, his price was fair and equitable. I recommend his company's services without any hesitation."

"Sal and his crew were great. I had ripped up my deck and wanted to add to my existing patio. Also had my small built in island grill expanded to a larger L shape bar and it came out great. Had a nice overhang attached to the house installed on space that was being wasted. Him and his crew were prompt, neat, friendly and worked their butts off. Very happy, just an all around nice, hard working crew that was very responsive to all my needs."

"I found this company while walking my dog in the neighborhood. A neighbors paved driveway caught my eye as being exceptionally beautiful and well done. So I got the name of the company which was Torres Contracting. Tony is a pleasure to work with; always replying prompting to all questions. He has a talented crew who work very hard, nonstop morning to evening. And they know what they are doing. Anything that came up, did not ever seemed to be a problem for them. It’s obviously they have plenty of experience in their field. They do beautiful work. And now my pavers are being admired."

Customers say: Quality work

"We had Julio s team re-pave a walkway and a patio as previous contractor did a bad job. Julio made a nice recommendation to pave over existing concrete as it was flat and pitched correctly. It saved us money and saved them time. King Pavers pricing was extremely competitive. We had 4 quotes. They were also very efficient. Julio said 2 days and they were done in 2.5 days only because it rained and they had to stop. Julio team was very professional. They had a supervisor on site (Edison) who was great to deal with. My wife made a request to find covers for the window wells which were not part of the original scope we discussed. Julio took the time to go to Lowe s and found the correct covers and installed them for us. No complaints. I highly recommend King Pavers."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.

The best way to stop your pavers from sinking is to ensure you've properly compacted the base layers. Use your paver compactor and work over the base layer several times to create the hardest possible base. If the soil and sand of your base are compact, you’ll experience less shifting and sinking.

If your new pavers look dull or unclean, it is likely due to efflorescence, a chalky, white powder that forms when lime in the pavers gets wet. This condition often resolves on its own, as rain will naturally wash it away within about a year. For faster results, you can use a pressure washer to clean the pavers. Alternatively, consider using cleaning products specifically designed to remove efflorescence or applying sulfuric acid crystals.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.
