Highly recommended, beautiful job. Steve visited my site quickly, took all the measurements and quoted a fair price. I told him I was in a rush and he was able to come a few days early with a big crew and a truck full of all the materials needed so they could get right to work. This was a complicated job with bluestone borders filled with herringbone pattern brick so there were a lot of cuts and transitions but they all lined up perfectly. Everyone who sees the work says it looks great.

I have never in more than 10 years of using Angie's List given a bad review, but want others to beware if considering this "company". The job was supposed to take two days and although I thought $3800 was high, however, it seemed for two days' work , the time he said it would take, the cost quoted was reasonable. A few days before the start, Stephen said it would only take one day as he had help. The project took less than 5 hours. So, that means his work was most $800/ hour as a fee (little in the way of supplies were needed) . Instead of removing the old mortar with a chisel, he used a jack hammer and completely ruined many of the sides of the flagstone pieces and then put these back and filled in the ragged edges with mortar. The joints (seams) were thick, wide and uneven, and not smooth (bumpy) and had holes throughout. Of course, I complained. He has tons of baseless explanations--"wait until it dries", "give it some time to cure", "it just needs a sealer" etc. He also left the patio with the usual mortar haze on it because he did not clean it well after work, and then told me it just needed a sealer ---which he would "give me PRICE for" ! I knew it needed to be cleaned with an acid wash and not "sealed " before it was cleaned, which I ended doing myself. I have had two masons come to see what can be done and both were appalled at the sloppy work. The whole patio needs to be replaced as the flagstone is ruined.! He called to say he would come by and fill in the holes in the mortar seams, but I just don't want him to do any other damage and I will get the patio replaced in the spring. The front walkway too has sloppy seams but is not as bad because no jackhammer was used to clear out the old mortar between the flagstone or brick . His "helpers" did this part . I had to acid wash the mortar off the walkway bricks, however. Lots of the old mortar pieces were left around in the lawn which I also had to clean up. He did not offer to refund any part of the cost, even with my complaints, and wanted cash of course. Please beware.

While he responded very quickly, he seemed to be short on-time and provided the estimate on a business card. Company would only be only if professional estimate was provided.

Excellent contractor. Responded to request for quote, visited the property promptly, after receiving photos to ensure nothing was missed in quoting the job. Gave a price, and stuck to that estimate. He explained the issues involved and gave options for approaches to fixing the problems. He was flexible in arranging a time when my tenant could give him access to electricity and water. Contractor showed up to the job with one additional workman on time. Did a very nice job, and cleaned up well afterwards. He even fixed up a few spots needing additional concrete to fill gaps, and while he was at it, he provided estimates for repairs on rear steps, as well as some further touch-up work to restore the finish to some main wall brick area. Steve, the owner/operator is a gentleman, and a very straightforward and down-to-earth person. He's easy to work with, and I highly recommend him for masonry work.

His rates are fair and affordable and he is willing to take on repair jobs vs. total replacement which most of the others contacted were not.
