"The decision to go with Gibson Tree Service was certainly the right one. A seasoned Pro. Fair pricing. Exceeded our expectations. From Eric's ?First Visit? (listening to our concerns, educating us on the tree, explaining the process, the options, answering every question) all the way to ?Tree Day? (his tree cutting expertise -- especially those precarious branches over a neighbor?s property, skilled courteous crew, and of course clean-up). An absolute pleasure to deal with, every step of the way. Highly recommend."

Customers say: True professional

"Francisco was very fast in his response to my initial query. He came right on time and did exactly what I asked - removed a dead tree from the pot and replanted with another plant, as well as a few other things around the yard. Very pleased."

"I could never over recommend Freeport Tree Service. They were the best group of workers that I have ever had in the fifty years that we have been living at this address. The price was more than fair and the work they performed was even better than I had expected. I plan on using their service again and again as the need arises."

"We needed 4 very large trees on our property removed. Julio was extremely accommodating, as we were late getting back to our house for the estimate meeting. He was very knowledgeable, and was very detailed in his estimate. The pricing was also extremely competitive. We only ended up having two of the trees dropped, but the work was impeccable. Julio and his team were punctual, extremely well prepared and very professional. Both trees, stumps and all of the wood were removed in one day, and the cleanup was excellent. We are extremely satisfied with the work and will almost definitely contract them again in the future."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.

Your local government is usually in charge of pruning trees on public property, and the power company is responsible for trees near power lines (even if they’re on your property). Whether or not they top these trees depends on their approach to pruning. You won’t be able to do much to control this, but you can contact them to find out more about their pruning process.

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

A standard tree removal doesn’t include stump grinding. If you want your contractor to remove your tree and grind the stump, you must pay an extra charge. That said, you’ll likely save on the cost of stand-alone service—especially if it’s a small tree and they can finish both jobs in a single trip.
